Why do some mobile apps need to access address books, call records and SMS records?

Generally, I don't agree that an APP can get my address book permissions. However, if you refuse to get access to your address book, there is an APP that won't work properly. Let's start with this kind of software and talk about the purpose of this behavior of APP.

First, collect user information for illegal purposes. As we mentioned just now, if you deny some applications access to your address book information, they will stop running. These apps are online lending and telecom fraud apps. First of all, the starting point of the online loan APP itself is reasonable. It is illegal to obtain your address book for risk control, but it is illegal to constantly harass people in the address book during the dunning process. There are also some telecom fraud apps, which often attract people to use under the guise of providing illegal video chat, then use the user's avatar screenshot interface, and then threaten extortion by sending friends in the address book.

Second, collect user information for their own promotion. You may receive a message similar to this: "Your friend XX is using XXAPP and invites you to use it together". This is your friend installing an APP, and then the APP gets his phone address book information, and then sends a text message to promote it.

Third, collect user information to provide convenience for users. Some apps will ask for your call records, SMS records and other permissions after installation. When you receive the verification code, it will automatically read and fill it in for you, so you don't have to look it up yourself. To a certain extent, it provides us with convenience.

Therefore, for some more formal apps, you can continue to use them in most cases when you are forbidden to obtain your personal information. If some apps can't run after being banned from obtaining address book information, there must be a problem. However, for the sake of safety, it is better for everyone to turn off this permission by themselves.
