Does the express pick-up code text message show the city or a string of numbers?

Express SMS does not show the city, but only shows the number of the pick-up code, usually four digits, depending on the express you ordered. The pick-up codes of Zhongtong, Shentong, Dayun and Tong Yuan are four digits, while the postal service is letters and numbers, so you don't have to look at the express delivery you ordered.
