To what extent are text messages threatened?

Legal analysis: intimidation is threatening others by harming their rights and interests or public interests, making them feel fear and panic.

The content of the short message is threatening, or the content of the short message is enough to inform the victim of panic, which is regarded as threatening information. Sending threatening information may be punished by detention or fine.

Legal basis: Article 42 of the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on Public Security Administration Punishment commits one of the following acts, and shall be detained for not more than five days or fined for not more than five days in 500 yuan, detained for not more than five days 10 days, and may also be fined for not more than two days in 500 yuan:

(1) writing threatening letters or threatening the personal safety of others by other means; (2) publicly insulting others or fabricating facts to slander others; (3) fabricating facts and falsely accusing others in an attempt to subject them to criminal investigation or administrative punishment for public security; (4) Threatening, insulting, beating or retaliating against witnesses and their close relatives; (5) sending obscene, insulting, intimidating or other information for many times to interfere with the normal life of others; (6) voyeurism.
