What does it mean for a man to send a caring message to his ex-wife after divorce?

A good horse never looks back. Obviously, this man is not like this. I think this man is still thinking about his ex-wife, sending her a message of concern, which shows that he still remembers his ex-wife and never forgets the feelings between him and his ex-wife.
