Can I call the police for threatening abuse by phone messages?

Legal analysis: Phone messages can call the police if they threaten abuse. The threat of insult by phone messages constitutes the crime of insult. The crime of insult refers to the use of violence or other means to publicly slander others, and the circumstances are serious. The legal interests infringed by such crimes are people's reputation. Insult refers to the expression of contempt for others' value judgment, and the content of expression is usually related to others' ability, virtue, identity and physical condition. Even if the content expressed by the actor is a well-known fact, as long as it is a fact that damages the reputation of others, it is an insult.

Legal basis: Article 42 of the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on Public Security Administration Punishment commits one of the following acts, and shall be detained for not more than five days or fined not more than 500 yuan. If the circumstances are serious, they shall be detained for more than five days and less than ten days, and may be fined up to five hundred yuan:

(1) writing threatening letters or threatening the personal safety of others by other means;

(2) publicly insulting others or fabricating facts to slander others;

(3) fabricating facts, falsely accusing and framing others, and attempting to subject others to criminal investigation or public security administration punishment.
