What is the addressing route of lte signaling network based on?

Diameter is widely used in the communication between core network elements in LTE core network architecture, and it is the most widely used IP signaling basic protocol in LTE networks. As a new generation of AAA protocol system, Diameter is mainly used for authentication, authorization and billing. It can be applied to various application environments through different application extensions. With the use of Diameter signaling between a large number of network elements in LTE network, DRA(Diameter Routing Agent) has become the key network element for constructing LTE signaling network.

DRA, similar to the traditional signaling transfer point (STP) of 2G/3G network, is the signaling routing hub in LTE signaling network, which is responsible for the transfer and routing of Diameter signaling in LTE network, including S6a interface between MME and HSS and Gx interface between PCRF and EPC. In the future deployment of VoLTE, DRA can also carry the signaling function between Cx, Sh and other interfaces. The working principle of DRA is to address LTE network elements (such as HSS and PCRF) within the domain or DRA between domains according to the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI), mobile subscriber number (MSISDN) and network domain.

Multi-level networking scheme of 5020SG DRA

Shanghai Bell has long found that the surge of Diameter signaling traffic between LTE network elements will bring great challenges to operators' LTE networking. Therefore, at the initial stage of TD-LTE network construction of China Mobile, 5020SG DRA was innovatively designed in cooperation with China Mobile. Shanghai Bell 5020SG DRA is based on the latest general hardware platform of ATCA, and uses the same hardware platform as IMS, MME, HSS and other network elements to support the evolution of the network to a new hardware platform. The platform supports millions of Diameter signaling message processing capabilities and tens of thousands of Diameter links, and can strongly support ultra-large LTE signaling network networking and ultra-high signaling traffic.

For large-scale and complex LTE signaling networks, 5020SG DRA can provide multi-level and multi-mode networking solutions.

1) There are two networking modes between paired DRA nodes at provincial/regional level: mesh networking and sub-A/B plane networking. These DRAs are responsible for the relay and routing of Diameter signaling between provinces.

2) Load sharing or "1+ 1" redundant protection networking can be adopted between DRA nodes deployed in pairs at the provincial level. These dras are responsible for relaying intra-provincial and inter-provincial Diameter signaling. The DRA at the provincial level is connected with the DRA at the provincial/regional level.
