Not long ago, a number of small and medium-sized supermarkets in Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, Jinan and other places were interviewed by the local quality and technical supervision bureau one after another, saying that they received complaints that the bar code of a commodity suspected of operating had expired, asked to cooperate with the investigation, and needed to provide the purchase ledger and documents of related commodities. If the violation is true, they will face a fine.

Commodity bar codes are uniformly distributed by the article coding center. Article 28 of the Measures for the Administration of Commodity Barcodes clearly stipulates that the effective use period of the manufacturer's identification code is two years, and the best renewal time is three months before the expiration, because even if there is an accident, there is enough time for buffering.

In other words, the barcode of a commodity is valid for only two years. Then, after the expiration of the commodity barcode, if it is not renewed, can the barcode still be used?

Of course not! You can't use the expired barcode! Article 35 of the Measures for the Administration of Commodity Barcodes stipulates that those who use the manufacturer's identification code and the corresponding commodity bar code without approval, use other bar codes to impersonate or forge the commodity bar code on the packaging of commodities, or use the cancelled manufacturer's identification code and the corresponding commodity bar code shall be ordered to make corrections and be fined up to 30,000 yuan. Therefore, if you continue to use the barcode after it expires, you will be fined, and all products on the market will be recalled, repackaged and labeled with the latest and effective barcode. It can be seen that expired barcode will be severely punished! Generally, local quality and technical supervision bureaus will carry out law enforcement inspection on commodity bar codes within their jurisdiction.

With the upgrading of the regulations of major platforms, all products without bar codes are not allowed to enter the supermarket. At present, products entering Amazon, Tmall, JD.COM Mall and Tik Tok platform usually need to use this barcode. For the normal circulation of products in the market, the barcode must be renewed in time before it expires.

In short, in order to avoid such incidents, retail supermarkets should purchase goods from formal channels to avoid counterfeiting and forging bar codes; Manufacturers should pay more attention to the validity of barcode certificates to ensure the real-time validity of barcode certificates. Once you find that the barcode is about to expire, please renew as soon as possible.
