It’s the Spring Festival again, and the opposition to mass text messages seems to be particularly high this year. “I won’t reply to mass text messages” has become a slogan.

This slogan really... brings disaster to Chiyu, and makes me feel helpless after insisting on creating my own New Year greeting messages for six or seven years. Every year during the Chinese New Year, editing New Year greeting messages is always one of my tasks, and it has become as unchangeable as posting Spring Festival couplets for New Year’s Eve dinner. The problem is , as people have opposed "group text messaging" in the past two years, I have found that fewer and fewer friends reply to me, and very few friends are interested in reading. Judging from the feedback of this text message that imitates the mobile tone, there are not many people who reply to me "You are the cutest/handsome" (leaving aside here whether I am actually cute or handsome), some friends directly reply with some New Year greetings. The traditional polite words, obviously, everyone did not read my original work well. My text messages were probably treated as jokes copied from the Internet, so everyone just randomly found something sent by others or typed a few words to reply to me.

This result makes me feel sad and embarrassed. The original text message contains my sincerity, and I hope that my relatives and friends will smile knowingly and brighten their eyes after reading it. After all, I think it is different from those online jokes (there used to be dialect versions, which are always You have to see it too). But these are equated with those boring New Year greeting messages and have the same fate. This is what saddens me the most. It’s embarrassing because I originally planned these things with the intention of celebrating the New Year with my relatives and friends, but in the end, they were regarded as a “mass party” and instead became a representative of “insincere and perfunctory towards relatives and friends”. It was completely contrary to expectations and completely different.

There is no doubt that some people copy a few messages and send them during the Chinese New Year, as if they want to do homework. This kind of "etiquette" is really disgusting. But in the midst of the crusade, do we also lack attention to other people's greetings, and even beat them to death with a stick? If you take the time to look at it, you won't be able to tell the difference between originality and plagiarism. Because we are harassed by group text messages, we feel that every beautifully edited text message is sent in bulk, and only those kind and plain words are truly tailor-made. As everyone knows, there are also people who are thinking hard and creatively, hoping that you will feel sincere blessings.

Speaking of which, New Year greetings are originally a traditional annual custom, full of everyone’s good wishes and expectations for the happy Spring Festival. The new way of sending New Year greetings through text messages emerged a few years ago, but now it has begun to fall into decline. It is not all the fault of mass text messages. Words are always cold to chew and will not be as warm as words spoken in person. Coupled with a few jokes copied from the Internet, these words are even less warm. But let me tell you, it was only after reading that I realized the warmth and emotion in the text. The copied paragraphs had no real feelings, and they had no feeling when I read them, they were as cold as ice.

But those that you edit yourself, even if they are sent in bulk, will be warm blessings when they reach you, and they are the carrier of blessings specially created for you. We are afraid that we will lose the patience to even read text messages and treat all text messages as boring group text messages. Then friends will be really cold and frosty.
