Difference between Extranet and Intranet

1. Compared with the external network, the internal network mainly refers to the small-scale computer interconnection network. This "small scope" can be a family, a company and a government department.

2. The difference of IP address setting, generally the intranet has its own IP number segment, starting from the router, usually the IP number segment at the beginning of 192, which will not conflict with the Internet number segment. Generally speaking, you can't have an external network IP, because it is a waste of resources for individuals or small groups to use the external network, so you usually surf the Internet through the internal network, and the external network IP is generally used in companies and enterprises.

3. We use the intranet, which is assigned by the LAN port of the router. When we want to request data, it will be sent to the router, and the router will send it to the operators (Unicom, Mobile, Telecom) through the WAN port. Then operators will use extranet. They can access the Internet to request data, and then return the requested information to us through the router.

4. The difference in security: compared with the external network, the internal network will have an additional layer of security firewall, and its ability to resist external network attacks will be better; However, the disadvantage of intranet is that it may be attacked from inside; And because you want to enjoy the bandwidth, the relative network speed may be slower.
