UIM (User Identity Module) is a smart card applied to cdmaOne mobile phone, which can be inserted into the corresponding 2G mobile phone to use mobile phone services. UIM card is used to access CDMA network of China Telecom, and it is the symbol of accessing network system. UIM card can store user data, telephone number and authentication data, and provide storage space for SMS. Standardization of UIM cards is performed by 3GPP2 (3rd generation partnership project 2).

UIM card has five modules, and each module corresponds to a function: microprocessor CPU( 16/32 bits), program memory ROM (3 ~ 8kbit), working memory RAM (6 ~ 16kbit), data memory EEPROM (128 ~ 256kbit) and serial communication. These five modules are encapsulated in the copper interface of UIM card like ordinary IC card.
