Can traffic law enforcement directly chase cars on the road?

Legal Analysis: According to Article 11 of the Law Enforcement Specification for Traffic Police on Road Duty, traffic police can chase cars only when drivers pose a serious threat to public safety and the safety of others, when there is a public security or criminal case, or when they rush to the scene of a public security or criminal case according to instructions from their superiors, and they are not allowed to chase cars under other circumstances.

Legal basis: Article 73 of the Code for Law Enforcement of Traffic Police on Road Duty shall observe the following provisions when investigating and handling illegal acts:

(a) in addition to intercepting serious violent criminal suspects and other special tasks, stop, inspect vehicles or punish traffic violations in places that do not hinder road traffic and safety, and set up diversion or avoidance signs in the direction of incoming vehicles;

(2) If a motor vehicle driver refuses to stop, he shall not stand in front of the vehicle and forcibly intercept it, or trample the vehicle, put his head and arms into the cab of the vehicle or climb the vehicle, and forcibly order the motor vehicle driver to stop;

(3) Except that the driver of a motor vehicle may pose a serious threat to public safety and the life safety of others after driving away, the traffic police may not drive a motor vehicle to catch up, and may take measures such as informing the traffic police on duty ahead to intercept or write down the car number and pursuing legal responsibility afterwards;

(4) Interception of vehicles should adopt indirect interception methods, such as setting up traffic facilities and using traffic lights to control parking in front of intercepted vehicles. Do not stand in the lane of the intercepted vehicle to intercept the vehicle.
