The working functions of the secretary of the Political and Legal Committee

Legal analysis: the secretary of the Political and Legal Committee is the secretary of the Political and Legal Committee established by committees at all levels in China. On behalf of the Party Committee, it shall exercise coordination functions for the work of public security departments, procuratorates, courts, judicial departments, state security departments and armed police forces at the same level.

Legal basis: Article 11 of the Regulations on Political and Legal Work in China establishes political and legal committees at the central and local party committees at or above the county level. The functional allocation, internal structure and staffing plan of the Central Political and Legal Committee shall be determined by the Party Central Committee for examination and approval. The functional allocation, internal structure and staffing requirements of the Political and Legal Committee of the local party committee shall be determined by the party committee at the same level according to the spirit of the Party Central Committee and the requirements of the party committee at the next higher level, combined with the actual situation in the region.

Township (street) party organizations are equipped with members of the Political and Legal Committee, who work under the guidance of the leaders of township (street) party organizations and the Political and Legal Committee of county-level party committees.

Provincial, city, county, township (street) social security comprehensive management center is an important platform for integrating social governance resources and innovating social governance methods. The Political and Legal Committee of the Party Committee at the same level and the Political and Legal Committee of the township (street) are responsible for overall planning and policy guidance.
