Please log in to the website to complete the processing! " Recently, Mr. Huang of Chongqing received such a short message. After clicking the link attached to the SMS and entering personal information such as license plate number, ETC binding debit bank account number, transaction password and mobile phone number as prompted, Mr. Huang realized that something was wrong and immediately went to the police station. The police told him that this was a typical ETC scam message.

One of the common fraud routines of ETC is that fraudsters send short messages to users' mobile phone numbers in the form of "casting nets" on the grounds that ETC is abnormal, expired, needs to be upgraded or will be suspended soon, and guide car owners to click on the links attached to the short messages.

Entering the link, people find that this is a fake website, which is highly similar to official website of ETC. The page requires the owner to enter his name, ID number, bank card account password, etc. So that fraudsters can obtain the owner's withdrawal information. When the owner enters the so-called verification code from the ETC certification center, the fraudster will successfully transfer the money from the owner's bank account. In fact, this verification code is the bank's deduction verification code.

It is understood that there is no "expired and invalid" situation in ETC account, and there is no need to operate a bank account for renewal, invalid activation and system upgrade of ETC vehicle-mounted equipment. If the equipment is abnormal, the local highway ETC WeChat official account will push relevant information to the customer and inform the handling location. Therefore, when handling ETC business, citizens can call the official hotline or go directly to local outlets.

The police reminded the majority of car owners not to handle ETC business through text messages, telephone calls or web links of unknown origin. In principle, official short messages will not contain links. In case of the above situation, you should check with ETC, handle it through ETC official channels, and don't disclose personal sensitive information to others at will. If you are found cheated, you should report it as soon as possible, and the police or relevant banking institutions will freeze the funds.
