What is information?

Information science believes that information is a universal attribute of matter and an objective form of material movement. Information is neither matter nor energy. Its function in the process of material movement is to express the structure, state and history of the material system to which it belongs in the process of overall interaction (or contact) with any other material system in the form of mass and energy fluctuations. This is the broadest concept of information. Under this concept, everything that "expresses" (or reflects) the internal or external interaction state or relationship of things is information. Wind, rain and lightning in nature, flowering and pollination in biology, crowing of chickens and frogs, and language exchange and communication in human society all belong to the category of information dissemination. According to the difference of information system and action mechanism, some scholars divide information into two categories: non-human information and human information; Some scholars divide it into three categories, namely physical information, biological information and social information. Social information here refers to all information related to human social activities except human biological and physiological information.
