Preface to Wen Shi Chun Qiu

Shortly after the publication of the Collection of Literature and History of Sages, the new work "Spring and Autumn Annals of Literature and History" met with readers again. He is diligent and enterprising, and his achievements are remarkable, which makes my fellow villagers and elders feel very gratified and admired.

Since the first biographical general history of the Western Han Dynasty came out, there has been a tradition of learning from history in China. After the founding of New China, the Party and the government paid more attention to the collection and arrangement of literature and history materials. When the sages were in office, they were enthusiastic about this work. After retirement, they continued to write and made new contributions. This book, History and Spring and Autumn Annals, is mainly about literature and history, with a small amount of historical records. Sages are honest and dedicated. In 1980s, in order to compile local chronicles and collect information, he went up to the Great Wall and down to the north and south of the river, and made extensive efforts and went through hardships. At the age of seventy, I went to many areas inside and outside the province to dig deep into historical materials and write articles at my own expense. This serious spirit is worthy of praise and learning. History itself is a science. No matter who writes a narrative, he is loyal to historical facts and strives to make the materials recorded in local chronicles and historical books stand the test of history. I congratulate him on the publication of his new book and am glad to recommend it to readers.
