Tracing the origin of old Beijing hawking

The hawking of old Beijing was recorded in the Ming Dynasty, and by the time it reached its peak in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, a lot of hawking sounds (and supporting organs, which will be reported in this series) had accumulated in the five elements and eight achievements of old Beijing. After liberation, with the absorption and transformation of individual traders by state-owned and collective economic elements, the hawking of old Beijing soon disappeared.

Since 1980s, as an endangered folk art form of Han nationality, old Beijing pendulum has been gradually excavated and restored, and a number of folk pendulum entertainers have appeared, such as Zhang Zhenyuan, Zang Hong, Ma, Wu, etc. In 2005, "Old Beijing Hawker Art Troupe" was established. In 2007, Hawking in old Beijing was officially listed in the second batch of Beijing-level intangible cultural heritage protection list. Old Beijing hawkers are not listed as inheritors of intangible cultural heritage projects in Dongcheng District and Beijing.
