Qilishantang scenic spot

February 2022 14

Introduction to Qilishantang Scenic Area Shantang Street has been called "the first street in Gusu" since ancient times. During the reign of Renwu (1762), Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty traveled south of the Yangtze River and went to Qili Mountain Hall to write "Winning in the Mountain Pond". Today, the shantang Qiusheng Pavilion is still well preserved. Emperor Qianlong has a special liking for Qili Mountain Pond. After returning to Beijing, he built Suzhou Street in the back lake of the Summer Palace, modeled on Qili Mountain Pond.

Qilishantang is an ancient gold dust land and downtown area in Suzhou (similar to Confucius Temple in Nanjing) and a new scenic spot for development.

Although the prosperity of the past is difficult to replicate, through the efforts of the government, a small river, several crescent-shaped stone bridges and ancient houses with white walls and gray tiles on both sides have finally been restored. It was evening when we arrived, and red lanterns were hung in turn in the houses by the river. The red light and the figure of the arch bridge are reflected in the river, rippling gently, which makes people sigh: this is Suzhou.
