Brief introduction of Dajingmen in Zhangjiakou

1, Dajingmen is located in the north of Zhangjiakou, which is an important pass of the Great Wall and is famous for its steep terrain. The coupon cave is a straight-walled semi-circular arch with a side height of 5.4 meters and a width of 6 meters. The interior is 9.5 meters high and 6.8 meters wide, with two wooden iron gates. On the threshold, there is the word "great rivers and mountains" inscribed by the commander-in-chief of Chahar in Qing Dynasty, each word is one meter square, and the brushwork is vigorous and powerful. At the top of the tower is a platform with a length of12m and a width of 7.5m.. There is a 1.7-meter-high crib outside, a 0.8-meter-high crib mouth inside and steps on the east side. The whole building is integrated and spectacular. Boarding the tower and overlooking Zhangjiakou City in the south, the beauty of the mountain city is vivid; East and West Taiping Mountain are opposite on both sides, and Qingshui River meanders down the foot of East Taiping Mountain and runs through the whole city. The mountains in the north are undulating and continuous, and the ditches in the front and west are far from the dam. The terrain is very dangerous. Dajingmen, as the north gate guarding Kyoto and the traffic artery connecting border villages with the mainland since ancient times, has always been a battleground for military strategists. At the same time, it was once a trading place for Mongolians and Han Chinese, and a distribution center for livestock, fur, saddles, mushrooms and other commodities. It has played an important role in developing Mongolian-Chinese friendly relations and communicating the trade between the mainland and border villages.
