Can I smoke in a Japanese family hotel?

I think homestays generally have a limited area.

The living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom of the hotel are all public.

Bedroom, there are single rooms and large rooms (bunk beds with curtains).

So it is difficult to distinguish between "smoking area" and "non-smoking area".
