The Basic Thought of Master Xingyun's Human Buddhism

Buddhist monk Xinping, abbot of Foguang Mountain, Master Cihui, chairman of the conference, masters, professors, distinguished guests, students who published papers:

Foguangshan advocates secular Buddhism, so just now, the president said that on 1990, we held a youth academic conference with "secular Buddhism" as the research theme, and I was very happy. I've been talking in the army these days. After I came back, the chairman of the conference, Master Cihui, invited me to give a keynote speech. Academic keynote speech must be learned; I don't have time to prepare materials either. They said to me,' You have advocated human Buddhism for decades, so tell me about your experience.' "Buddhism on earth" is not only in my heart, but also in my behavior, and it is always in my heart; So I would like to take this opportunity to share with you my views on secular Buddhism and talk about "the basic idea of secular Buddhism".

Since we study with the theme of "secular Buddhism", we should know something about secular Buddhism. So, what is secular Buddhism?

We know that the founder of Buddhism, Sakyamuni Buddha, is a human Buddha. He was born in the world, cultivated in the world, realized in the world, transformed into all beings in the world, and everything was world-oriented. Why didn't the Buddha become a Buddha in the other five ways? Why don't you go to the Ten Dharma Boundaries and other Dharma Boundaries to be a Taoist priest? And born on earth? Looking deeper, why didn't Buddha become a Taoist in the past and in the future? Become a Taoist in our secular world? In other words, the Buddha advocated the world. Secular Buddhism, the secular Buddhism he showed, has the following six characteristics:

First, human nature: Buddha is not an immortal who comes and goes without a trace, nor is it a mysterious god. Everything about the Buddha is human. Like us, he has parents, a family and a life, but in human life, he shows compassion, abstinence, prajna and other wisdom beyond the secular, so he is the Buddha of human nature.

Second, the essence of life: Buddhism developed by the Buddha attaches great importance to life, teaching and pointing everywhere for food, clothing, housing and transportation, even walking, living, sitting and lying down. Even for the relationship between family and family members, there are clear instructions to participate in social and national activities.

Third, altruism: Buddha was born in this world, with the purpose of "teaching others", educating all sentient beings, benefiting all sentient beings, and taking altruism as the foundation.

Fourth, joy: Buddhism is a religion that gives people joy. The Buddha's doctrine of compassion is to solve the suffering of all beings and give them happiness.

V. Times: Buddha was born in the world because of a great event, especially with our world. Although the Buddha was born 2,500 years ago and was certified as Nirvana, the Buddha has given us a good karma for all generations. So today, we still follow the example of Buddha's thought and teaching method.

Sixth, the general nature: the Buddha's life is very general. I remember Mr. Liang Shuming, who gradually transferred from studying Buddhism to Confucianism. He thinks that the humanity of Buddhism is not enough, so when Master Taixu invited him to give a speech at the Sino-Tibetan Institute of Education, he wrote "Here, here, this person" on the blackboard. He said,' Why did I go to Confucianism for these six words? Speaking of time, Buddhism talks about the past, the present and the future. There are countless monks robbing us, but the present world we live in is very important. Buddhism stresses space and place, saying that there is this world, other worlds and infinite worlds. Although the world has said so much, the world we live in needs us to purify. Buddhism talks about all beings, not only people, but also all beings in the ten dharma circles-viviparous, oviparous, wet, metaplasia, and infinite beings, among which people are the most important. After listening to Liang's words, Master Taixu explained. Although Buddhism talks about the past, the present and the future, it focuses on secular giving. In space, although Buddhism has this world, another world and infinite world, it is also a universal interest to attach importance to this world; Buddhism stresses sentient beings. Although there are ten kinds of sentient beings in dharma, it also focuses on human charity.

Buddhism is a people-oriented Buddhism. In various Confucian classics, the Buddha has always stressed: "I am one of many", indicating that he is not a god. Vimalakīrti's classic said: "Buddha seeks all beings. Without sentient beings, there is no Buddha, and without the masses, there is no way to find. Liu Zushi even said: "Buddhism is in the world and cannot be separated from the world. Dying in Kuboth is like looking for the horns of a rabbit. If we want to become a Buddha, we must practice in human nature, and only people can become a Buddha. In other respects, Buddhism and Taoism can't be achieved.

Hokkekyo once praised the value of being a man with the metaphor of "things are scarce". The scripture says, "There is a blind turtle in the dark. He wants to go ashore for help. The vast sea is dark and boundless, with only one board with a hole. It took this blind turtle a hundred years to find the hole and the road to redemption. It is so difficult to get someone, so desirable. " Agama also said: "losing a person is like soil, gaining a person is like mud on a claw." "These all mean that people are rare and the human world is precious.

I once held a family photo in San Francisco, USA. A teacher asked a question, and he said,' Buddhists in our family told us to live and die, but we didn't want to; We have never thought of becoming a Buddha, because becoming a Buddha is a distant thing; It is also very slim to risk your life. We just want to know now, how can I live better than others, a little higher than others, that's good. "Hearing this, I felt a lot. Our Buddhism has always deviated from life. The closed Buddhism in the past, Buddhism in the mountains, Buddhism since the Han Dynasty, and personal Buddhism have all lost their humanity, making many people who want to enter Buddhism linger outside the door, cringing and hesitating. Therefore, Buddhism should strengthen the measurement of all beings.

The first 100-300 years of Indian Buddhism was an era of small behavior and great concealment-the era when Mahayana Buddhism prevailed and Mahayana Buddhism was obscure. 600 years later, it was an era of great merit and small seclusion. Mahayana Buddhism prevailed, but Hinayana Buddhism did not appear. A thousand years later, it is an era when the secret master shows obedience, that is, teaching is the main thing and teaching is the obedience. Today is an era of world harmony. Whether it is Hinayana Buddhism, Southern Buddhism Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, China Buddhism, the human Buddhism proposed today is a fusion of the most primitive Buddhist era and modern Buddhism.

As far as the development of Buddhism in China is concerned, the four famous mountains we are familiar with today are mainly the four bodhisattvas: Guanyin, Manjusri, Pu Xian, and King Earth Zang. Among the four great bodhisattvas, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva and Pu Xian show their families, and only Diwang Bodhisattva shows their families. Why do most of these bodhisattvas appear at home? The reason is that in the past, monks had many famous personalities and strong ideas about birth; Buddhism at home is more optimistic and positive, which is more in line with the purpose of Mahayana Buddhism. Therefore, Mahayana Buddhism is more in line with Buddhism. Like Master Taixu, he himself said modestly,' A monk is not an immature Buddha. I wish I were a bodhisattva. Call me a monk! No, the monk's precepts are not easy to hold perfectly. Call me Buddha? I haven't become a Buddha. I wish I could be called a bodhisattva serving all beings. Bodhisattva is not a clay sculpture, but is supported in a Buddhist temple, but is active in the world, conscious and full of affection. We can all be bodhisattvas. Therefore, Master Taixu advocated "secular Buddhism" all his life, and finally he summed it up as the Bodhisattva School. Learning from Bodhisattva is the purport of secular Buddhism.

Each of us should have a goal to pursue the pure land of past lives, the pure land of bliss in the west and the pure land of glass in the east. In fact, the pure land is not necessarily in the East, nor in the West. The pure land of Buddhism is everywhere. Maitreya Bodhisattva has pure land, Vimo Buddhism has pure land of idealism, and we say that there is pure land on earth. Why can't we create the world into a peaceful and happy pure land, but a future pure land? Why not pursue the unknown future, but the physical and mental purification of the real country? Therefore, in our mountain, for believers with a certain educational level, when they get old, we don't need to rely on our children to support them, or even go to the western paradise after death, so that Amitabha can make up for him and say to him,' You are good to Buddhism, I will support you and die for you.' Take Foguang Mountain as an example. I think our present temple Dojo should convince believers that I am a pure land in the west and I can give you a stable life. Therefore, my view of human Buddhism is that entering the WTO is more important than being born, life is more important than life and death, altruism is more important than self-interest, and charity is more important than self-cultivation.

No matter how Buddhism is divided into Hinayana, Mahayana, Zoroastrianism and esotericism, it should all be human beings, which is very suitable for the trend of the times. It not only inherits the tradition, but also is the general trend. Buddhism on earth is bound to be bright. In the past, the earliest move to Mahayana was based on sound, which we called the Dharma period; Later, the Mahayana trend of thought was based on the idea that heaven occupied heaven, and we designated it as the elephant law period; It can be said that the Mahayana period is the last period of Buddhism. Since it is the last French era, as Master Tai Xu said, it is more important to advocate human Buddhism in the last French era. I will now make some explanations on "what is Buddhism" and put forward six suggestions:

One, five times * * * method is human Buddhism.

We know that Buddhism is divided into five periods: man, heaven, sound, taste, karma and bodhisattva. Buddhism is more important than joining the WTO; Buddhism is heard by karma, which is more important than what was born. We often talk about the spirit of joining the WTO, and then the idea of hearing the news is Bodhisattva Road. We should take bodhisattva as our goal, self-interest as our goal, altruism as our goal, self as our yardstick, and others as our consciousness, and regard the relationship between man and me as inseparable and consistent. Self-interest is also to enrich myself. I can get self-interest if I can benefit all beings. When these five kinds of Buddhism are reconciled, it is the human Buddhism. For example, I'm going to Taipei today. Taipei is my goal of studying Buddhism. It is a pure land. I now take the train through Tainan, Taichung and Hsinchu. I can go straight to the goal of becoming a Buddha without getting off at Tainan, Taichung or Hsinchu. But you can't pass through Tainan, Taichung and Hsinchu. In other words, if you want to become a Buddha, you can practice Mahayana Buddhism directly. However, we can't complete ourselves without the integration of heaven and man and the integration of sound and smell.

Second, the five precepts and ten good deeds are human Buddhism.

Today, a president of a military academy asked me:' Please be specific, what contribution can Buddhism make to the country and society?' I said,' All the 12 holy books of Sanzang can benefit the country and the people.' Simply put, as long as one five precepts, you can rule the country and level the world. As we all know, the five commandments are not to kill, steal, lie, lie or eat or drink.

If you don't kill, respect others' lives, and don't infringe others, life will be free. If I don't steal, I won't infringe on other people's property, and wealth will be free. Innocent means that others will be free if their bodies and honors are not violated. If I don't lie, my reputation and credit will not be infringed, and the reputation of others will not be harmed. If I don't drink, I won't eat anything, which won't harm my health, my wisdom and others. If one can observe the five commandments, one's personality and morality will be sound. All families hold the Five Commandments, and all families are sound in personality and morality. A group, a society and a country can abide by the five commandments, and this country must be a peaceful and happy country and society.

As long as we go to the prison to make an investigation, we can understand that anyone who is imprisoned for committing rape is a person who has committed the five commandments. For example, murder, injury and disfigurement are all homicide. Corruption, misappropriation of public funds and robbery are crimes of theft. Obstruction of morality, destruction of family, bigamy, * * *, trafficking and even human trafficking are all crimes. Deception, intimidation and failure to do so are all lies and warnings. The so-called abstinence from alcohol, in addition to drinking, also includes taking drugs such as opium, morphine, inhaling speed, giving birth, super glue, etc., which will make you feel in a trance, which is an infringement on your wisdom and will cause harm to the world. If everyone can observe the five commandments, there will be no prisoners in the prison. Even ordinary believers today, if they sublimate their beliefs a little, don't become folk beliefs, just worship and pray for long life, wealth, fame, good health and so on. As long as you follow the five precepts, you don't have to be forced.

For example, if you don't kill anything, let it go. Why not live a long life? Give without stealing, how can you not get rich? How can a family be disharmonious without evil and respect? Honesty does not lie, how can reputation and credit be bad? How can it be unhealthy to know how to keep fit and not eat indiscriminately? A five precepts, for our individual, society and country, has such a big relationship. So what is human Buddhism, and the five precepts and ten good deeds are human Buddhism. In fact, ten good deeds are also the expansion of the five precepts! For example, physical practice does not kill, steal or do evil; Oral practice is not arrogant, not tongue-tied, not swearing, not swearing; Italian practitioners are not greedy, angry or Jaken. With Jaken, he was wrong-minded, self-mutilated and miserable all his life. No, Jaken, Buddhism is called wisdom, and its ultimate goal is to inspire self-wisdom and get rid of Jaken.

Three or four boundless minds are human Buddhism.

Four boundless minds are kindness, sadness, joy and abandonment. I often wonder why Buddhism in China has declined. Because Buddhists have no Buddhism and do not practice Buddhism. Buddhism wants us to be merciful. How many Buddhists have true compassion? Buddhism wants us to give up. How many Buddhists have the character of giving up? Buddhists don't really accept Buddhism. It doesn't matter whether you were born or joined the WTO. If there is no Buddhism, what is the difference between it and the secular?

Some people say, "Every family is Amitabha and every family is Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin came to our Buddhist temple, and everyone gave Guanyin the best main hall in the house, where the Buddha was enshrined. Why? Because avalokitesvara has the merit of compassion. Compassion can enter everyone's family; Compassion can be respected by all; Compassion can truly subdue people's hearts and make everyone convinced and respected.

I don't know when Buddhism began to be pessimistic. Buddhists kept silent as soon as they met, saying,' Life is bitter! Bitter! Impermanence! "impermanence!" . Buddhism has a happy personality and a happy spirit. The so-called boundless joy and boundless sadness should be to spread joy all over the world. Speaking of bitterness is to let us know the reality of bitterness. How to get rid of suffering and get happiness is the real intention of Buddha to talk about suffering, and "suffering" is not the ultimate goal. Buddha said that impermanence is good, impermanence can change, and bad things can get better; Unfortunate fate, because of impermanence, will be extremely lucky, and will luck turn to another life; Because of impermanence, fate is not fixed. How can we spread the seeds of joy so that the whole world can learn Buddhism and everyone can live a happy life?

Sometimes, such a rich material life, like the economic growth and prosperity of Taiwan Province Province, may not be able to solve people's sufferings. Things with a lot of money and material things bring people a lot of troubles. The happiness of Buddhism is to experience inner freedom and inner happiness from the happiness of Buddhism, from the happiness of Zen and from the happiness of truth. If our folk beliefs are only based on greed and pray for greed, peace, wealth, a happy family, longevity and winning the lottery to Bodhisattva and all gods, this religious level based on greed is not noble. We should base our faith on "giving up". Believing in religion is dedication, sacrifice and benefiting the public. The altruistic character of human Buddhism should have this spirit of compassion and joy, which is the main content of human Buddhism.

Four or six degrees is human Buddhism.

Four methods of giving, loving language, benefiting behavior, benefiting colleagues; Giving, keeping precepts, enduring humiliation, diligence, meditation and prajna are the six degrees of human Buddhism. I went to America to preach. Although the United States is not a Buddhist country, I feel that Americans have the character and spirit of earthly Buddhism and Mahayana Bodhisattva. Take giving as an example. Americans are very willing to pay. When they go to church, they are more or less willing to donate money. No matter what happens in society, we will do our best with joy. Americans, in particular, will give you a smile and a cordial greeting when they see you:' Hello! Hello! ,' Hello! It's everywhere. This is giving. A smile, a greeting, are all pay, appearance pay, language pay. They will be integrated into life.

Americans are very law-abiding and discipline is law-abiding. They are a country ruled by law, but they don't have to teach law in court. When there is a red light on the road, there is no car, and the police will not cross the road casually. As long as there is a stop sign on the road, he will not pass, but will stop and pass again. The same is true for scheduling and queuing. Once we were in Hawaii, many people went to visit Hawaiian folk dances. We went to that place with our monks and sightseeing groups. The old man in charge of guarding pointed his hand to let those people leave the shade under the big tree over there. This place is for their families. No one said anything, and everyone went obediently. Why? Religion is respected in America, and everyone respects the rule of law. Because you are in charge of management, I will respect you and obey you. Sometimes there are too many people for the guards to assign people to sit here and there, so they put a rope around the intersection and ordered everyone to sit here and there, regardless of kings, state collectors, governors and legislators in other countries. As soon as this rope was pulled, everyone stood there legally. Why? This rope is like collecting laws and cannot be crossed. The dignity and sanctity of the law have been integrated with American life and thoughts, and the people abide by the law, so the country is naturally a country ruled by law.

On the contrary, what is the situation in developing countries? Don't say a rope is a wall, he will try his best to climb it. Therefore, obeying the law is a discipline. Whether or not to abide by the law is related to the image of a country, as well as to the progress and prosperity of a country. We should establish the concept of Buddhist legal system on the earth.

When it comes to humiliation, Americans are also very patient. Bear with me, I won't talk back if you don't scold me; Hit me, I won't answer, forget it, just take a breath! These are not forbearance. Patience is responsibility; Endurance is strong. Patience is also a positive sacrifice, but also a humiliation. Don't Americans work hard when they work? He is suffering; Line up, don't go beyond it in order, you have to endure it. Therefore, if we tolerate each other, society will be orderly and there will be no disorder.

It is also well known that Americans are diligent. Americans are active, energetic and hardworking. We think the United States is like a paradise, but in fact, Americans are hardworking, conscientious, not lazy, unwilling or dedicated, just as Buddhists say. Buddhism says diligence, and there are so-called four senses-"goodness must be born before it is born, good will grow after it is born, evil will be extinct after it is born, and evil will not be born before it is born." The continuous research, breakthrough and improvement of Americans have made them a world power.

Meditation: Sometimes, there are no people in the streets of America, and adults and children are at home. Speak quietly and don't make any noise. By train, everyone seems indifferent, just like meditation.

Wisdom: Some people say that Americans are so stupid. He can't figure it out when you buy six dollars and twelve from him. He wants two dollars plus two dollars plus two dollars plus two dollars ... oh! It is twelve dollars. In fact, Americans are not stupid. China people are smart, sometimes too smart, and become opportunistic. This American is clumsy and slow, but he is not fooling around. One is one, one is two. Therefore, they study science and technology, can research and develop, can be accurate, and do everything reliably.

At this point, you may think that I advocate that the moon in foreign countries is rounder than that in China, but it is not. I just sigh: Why are we so stingy, snobbish, selfish, evasive and only concerned about ourselves in the country where Mahayana Buddhism is practiced? Therefore, we should advocate human Buddhism, practice charity, benefit, colleagues and love language. This is the Buddhism that human beings and society need today. Five precepts can stabilize the society, six degrees can build the country, and four boundless minds can benefit the public.

Five, karma is human Buddhism.

Recently, I went to teach in the army, and the generals told me that there was something wrong with the army. Some young people serving in the army thought: I joined the army last year and he joined the army last year. He was promoted to monitor, while I was still a soldier. I don't trust. We both planted the same career and joined the army. Why is the result different? You should know that there is "karma" among karma. Different karma produces different results. For example, if this flower is watered a little more and fertilized a little more, the sowing place will be fertile, the breeze will blow, the sun will shine and the rain will moisten, and this flower will be different from that one! Although they are all the same flowers, the result is different because of the difference of "fate".

Therefore, mortals often resent fate and injustice in the world. They criticize a family member, a friend, society and the country. Why don't they study their karma? What went wrong? For example, if I make a mistake, I may be promoted to monitor. Because of that sentence, I lost the chance of promotion. Originally, the opponent was not as good as you, but when it mattered, he made great contributions, took on great responsibilities, said a good word, and his fate was strengthened and he became the monitor. Therefore, in Buddhism, it is very important to make good relationships. As the saying goes, "If you want to become a Buddha, you must first become attached." We should pay attention to this relationship. When thinking of a porridge and a meal in daily life, how many karma achievements; I want to thank karma and the public for giving me the opportunity to attend Buddhist academic conferences. Thanks to Foguangshan Jungle College for hosting this event. Everything is so convenient. Thank you for everything!

We live at home, deliver newspapers in the morning and turn on the TV at night. How many artists are performing? If we have no gratitude at all, we can't see newspapers or TV at night. How boring is that life? Karma brings people scattered around the world together, and their efforts and dedication to service make me live a wonderful life. This is the value of karma. How can I repay the contract you gave me? We should be grateful everywhere and know how to be grateful in order to enjoy a rich life.

Speaking of karma, karma is incredible. We see that people in today's society don't understand cause and effect. When everything went wrong, people who read Buddha blamed Amitabha for not blessing me, so that my money was cheated and closed down; Buying stocks didn't make money, blaming Amitabha for not being inspired; Being a vegetarian, my health is getting worse and worse, and I blame Amitabha for not being merciful. What is the inevitable causal relationship between vegetarianism and getting rich, fitness and longevity? Cause and effect cannot be confused. How can you get beans when you grow melons? It is a cause and effect of faith and morality to read Buddha, worship Buddha and fast vegetarian diet. Getting rich is economic cause and effect; Good health, long life, and healthy cause and effect; Need exercise, normal health care. How can you put the blame on amitabha? So, today, too many people confuse cause and effect and can't understand cause and effect correctly.

A passerby stole a coconut from an orchard tree to eat. The host said,' Hey! "How do you eat my coconut?" How can this be yours? It belongs to this tree. Hmm! "I planted this," the coconut you planted was buried in the soil, and the coconut I ate grew on the tree. Trees have nothing to do with soil? This cause and effect can't be cut off, because it will produce results when it meets fate. Bodhisattva fears cause, while all beings fear fruit. Bodhisattva knows the reason and won't do it casually. All beings are not afraid, so they will mess around and eventually go to jail. The result is terrible!

Even our Buddha is old, sick and dead when he is born, just like us ordinary people. In causality, there is no scope of causality. This is a great idea, because everyone is equal before karma, and no one can escape karma. "Good people bully the sky, and bad people are afraid of the sky." What is the sky? Heaven is cause and effect in Buddhism, and cause and effect are very fair. Today, when we advocate human Buddhism, we should vigorously build it. Everyone has the concept of cause and effect, which is very scientific and rational. Everyone has the concept of cause and effect, and there is no need for police and courts. Cause and effect are their own police and mentor, and cause and effect are their own legal norms.

In Yangzhou, my hometown, there are no police for dozens of miles and no courts for hundreds of miles. People don't commit crimes, and there are fewer murders. If I'm sorry for you and you're sorry for me, then don't make noise, don't make noise. We can settle the dispute by burning incense in the Land Temple and the Town God Temple. Swear it's fair to each other. Why? Cause and effect will give me an explanation. Now there is a so-called self-help, there is no way to save himself, and there is no way to complain. He still has a comforting cause and effect in his heart. Cause and effect will not deceive us, because "good results will eventually be rewarded, and it is not too late to fight for it"!

Sixth, Zen Zhongjing Road is human Buddhism.

Many contents of Buddhism are boundless, and there are many sects. Zen is pure, the middle view is empty, and the middle way is human Buddhism. When it comes to Zen, the ancestors of past dynasties did not seek to become Buddhas, but only sought enlightenment. After human enlightenment, the present life can be freed, the body and mind can be settled, and the present body and mind can be at ease. The so-called "clear heart and clear meaning" is enough. Therefore, Zen is the most human.

So is the pure land. Pure land pedestrians want to live in pure land and also want to read Buddha in this world. If they don't have enough time to recite Buddha, they can't live. Therefore, based on the real world, there is no shortcut to honestly recite Buddhism and practice. Pure land, in particular, is a good way to stabilize our body and mind for the present family and hectic social life. If you practice Zen and double cultivation, it will be more in line with the Buddhist thought in the world.

The thought of the middle way is the wisdom of emptiness and integration, which can directly enter the real world. With the cosmic wisdom of the Middle Way, you can be happy in this world. Sometimes, some people pay too much attention to material life, follow the hot pursuit of the world, and easily forget themselves. Sometimes, away from the world, into the mountains, a person alone, such as dead wood, cold, suffering from life and death in the world, I don't know how to care. Life is too hot or too cold, and it lacks the harmony of the middle way.

The so-called golden mean is the universal wisdom of the golden mean. With this wisdom, when you encounter something, you will know how to deal with it and master its principle. When you meet all the fruits, you will know that the fruits are born from them, and what you plant will bear fruit. You don't blame others casually, but you trace the reasons. The phenomenon of "being" is due to the principle of "emptiness". "Not empty" means nothing. How can we have a party here without space? Without vanity, how can the universe be built? Only in "emptiness" can a wonderful "existence" be born. Therefore, human Buddhism lives a life of equal importance to both material and spiritual life, and material and spiritual life are equally important. There is a world that pursues outward and inward; There is a world before, and there is a world after. Don't blindly follow, just rush forward, knock your head off, and know how to turn back to the shore. Human Buddhism is empty; Some live in groups and some live alone. Harmonize everything in the world and make the world the best life.

The human Buddhism I advocate is just like the creed I set for Foguang Mountain: give people confidence, give people joy, give people hope and give people convenience. In my opinion, those who are willing to give, serve, help others, become attached to others and get along happily are the teachings of the Buddha and what the Buddha taught us on earth. Benshan advocates secular Buddhism. Frankly speaking, it is to let Buddhism be implemented among people, in our lives and in each of our hearts. Where is the Buddha? In my heart. Where is the pure land? In my heart. As soon as my eyes are closed, I have all the three thousand worlds in the universe. Everyone in the world has left me, but my Buddha is in my heart and has not left me.

How to live a happy life? In today's society and world, each of us bears a heavy burden, and the responsibilities of family, career and relatives are oppressing us tightly. If we have human Buddhism now, we will have the whole universe, and happiness will be everywhere, just like the Zen master without a door said, "Spring blossoms, autumn moon is in the sky, summer breeze blows gently, and winter snow falls;" If you don't worry about anything, it's a great time for the world. "There is nothing in the world, and nothing in my heart is as wide as a bed. Being able to have an inner world does not necessarily require how big the outer world is and how to expand the inner world. All sentient beings in the world, all the world, are probably inseparable from our hearts. How to build a vast world in our hearts is the true spirit of human Buddhism only through constant practice.

The so-called basic idea of human Buddhism, I simply put forward the above views: the five-multiplication * * * method is human Buddhism, the five precepts and ten good deeds are human Buddhism, the four boundless hearts are human Buddhism, the six degrees are human Buddhism, the karma is human Buddhism, and the Zen Pure Mean is human Buddhism. Before you attend the seminar on "Buddhism on earth", I want to make some contributions to you with these words. Bless everyone!
