What is intestinal loop? Generally speaking, it refers to a section of intestine. Of course, all intestines have mesentery fixed on the posterior wall of abdominal cavity. There are blood vessels and nerves in mesentery. Like branches, a trunk is divided into many branches. We call it the arterial arch of mesenteric vessels, which anastomoses with each other to provide nutrition for a section of intestine, so intestinal loop refers to a section of intestine.

Then what is intestinal loop? It means that when intestinal obstruction occurs, both ends of intestinal curvature and mesenteric blood vessels are blocked by pressure, and the intestinal loop blocked at both ends forms something similar to sleeve tab, which is called intestinal loop in abdominal plain film.

So both refer to the intestine, but one is normal and the other is problematic.
