Why are some trucks not equipped with parking air conditioning?

What trucks running logistics need most is independent air conditioning. Unfortunately, most manufacturers do not have standard air conditioners when they leave the factory. On the contrary, there are many personal modifications. However, it is illegal to modify the air conditioner privately, and what comes with the original factory meets the safety standards. At present, there are already truck manufacturers equipped with independent parking air conditioners.

Some models of Jiefang J6 and J7 are equipped with independent cooling and heating parking air conditioners. It costs several thousand yuan (more than 3,000 yuan) to equip an independent air conditioner, and about 5,000-7,000 yuan to refit an electric independent air conditioner.

The parking refrigeration mode of Jiefang brand truck adopts electric compressor, and the parking heating is realized by diesel warm air. Parking refrigeration consumes a lot of energy, so it has some limitations to use its own battery to power the compressor. According to the official, the Southern version with parking refrigeration uses a reinforced and enlarged battery with a capacity of 225ah. The parking air conditioner can run independently for 6 hours when fully charged.

In order to achieve good refrigeration effect, the pure electric compressor consumes a lot of electricity and greatly shortens the running time. The statement of 6 hours is actually the same as the slogan of air conditioning once a night. In fact, the standby time in hot weather during the day is about two hours.

It can be seen from this that manufacturers want to increase parking air conditioners, and in order to pursue stability and safety, they can only use batteries to supply power to air conditioners. However, the battery capacity is limited. Once used up, it takes a long time to fully charge again. However, if the battery is not fully charged, it won't take long to stop the air conditioner.

In reality, the most practical, infinite standby air conditioner is to use a generator to supply power to the parking air conditioner. However, the single-cylinder diesel generator is noisy, while the gasoline engine consumes too much fuel. Moreover, once the generator with extra work is installed (the existing diesel engine directly drives the compressor), the extra engine maintenance and safe use are problems.

Manufacturers simply don't want to do such thankless things. For manufacturers, one more generator will have one more fault point, and even the design of the whole vehicle will have to be changed. And it needs a lot of experiments and arguments. It is impossible for manufacturers to install generators with independent control and wiring as we modified them, which is very random and can be replaced by one master.

Manufacturers must integrate the parking air conditioning function into the system, and the related safety issues should also be considered comprehensively. Therefore, it is impossible for manufacturers to develop complex air conditioners powered by independent generators, and it is much less difficult to install air conditioners powered by batteries, and the original car design has not changed much. Even so, few manufacturers love to do so.
