Hong Kong (English: Hong Kong; Short name: HK), short name "Hong Kong", full name is People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region. It is located in the south of China, east of the Pearl River estuary, along the coast of the South China Sea, bordering Shenzhen in the north, the Pearl River in the west and the South China Sea on the other two sides.

Before 1840, Hong Kong was a small fishing village. During the period of 1842- 1997, Hong Kong became a British colony. After World War II, Hong Kong's economy and society developed rapidly, and eastern and western cultures met here and became one of the "four little dragons in Asia". 1 July 19971day, China officially resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Hongkong and became one of the special administrative regions of China. It is allowed to retain the original economic model, laws and social systems and enjoy a high degree of autonomy in all matters except foreign affairs and national defense.
