The Tao Te Ching is divided into the Dao Jing and the De Jing. Which part is more important to modern people?

Use Tao to lead to virtue, and use virtue to enter Tao. The two complement each other.

If Taoism or virtue is more important to modern people, I think virtue should be more important to modern people.

The ancient sages have conducted detailed research and exposition on Tao and morality. People in Tao, as a group of individuals, should learn virtue in order to develop better in Tao. And virtue can restrain people's behavioral norms. When people have virtue, they can better understand the law of return of Tao, and only then can it become more natural.

If a person has no virtue, he will not travel far; if a person has no virtue, he will not stand. Moral corruption is not conducive to development. Those who act against the Tao will be sanctioned and restrained by the Tao. If the United States says America First, it is completely contrary to morality. Everything is the same under the Tao, and Tao will not favor anyone or rely on anyone. Only with virtue can people better understand the Tao; with virtue and the Tao, can people better stand in the Tao.

The Tao Te Ching is originally indivisible, and forcibly separating it is a kind of understanding or experience when our descendants understand it. As a descendant, I would like to express my own views on this concept.

Tao is the law, the law of the natural operation of all things in the world. Studying Taoist scriptures is to understand and understand the nature of the world, to understand the laws, and to know.

Virtue is behavior, the specific behavioral method that people need to exercise in compliance with the law of Tao. What people need to do is closer to people, more relevant and more practical. But virtue can only be achieved on the premise of knowing the Tao. Without the Tao, it is difficult to have virtue. In other words, when you go to a place, if you don’t know the way (do not know the way), it will be difficult to make the correct action decision and reach the destination.

So I think Tao should be more important at any time. Human society is advancing, people's understanding is being updated and developed, and the virtues people want to pursue are also changing at any time. Only by understanding and mastering the Tao can we flexibly perform correct and appropriate virtues.

The De Jing part of the Tao Te Ching only gives a general direction, which is just a general direction of corresponding measures that conform to the operating laws of Tao. As the social environment changes, specific measures will continue to change. Only by understanding the Tao, the essence of things, and the fundamental nature of heaven and earth can our actions be more consistent with the Tao and have true virtue.
