Development of International Logistics Concept

The first stage in the history of international logistics development —— 1950s to early 1980s. At this stage, logistics facilities and logistics technology have developed greatly, distribution centers have been established, computers have been widely used for management, and three-dimensional unmanned warehouses have emerged. Some countries have established their own logistics standardization systems. The improvement of logistics system has promoted the development of international trade, and logistics activities have gone beyond the scope of a country, but the trend of logistics internationalization has not been paid attention to by people.

The second stage-from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. With the development of economy and technology and the expansion of international economic exchanges, the trend of logistics internationalization has begun to become a worldwide phenomenon.

Problem Bossox, a professor at Michigan State University in the United States, believes that since the 1980s, the American economy has lost the momentum of prosperity and development, and has fallen into a long-term retrogression crisis. Therefore, we must emphasize improving international logistics management, reducing product costs, improving services, expanding sales and winning in the fierce international competition. At the same time, Japan is in the mature stage of economic development, and the basis of economic development is trade. In order to realize the internationalization of logistics suitable for foreign trade, Japan has taken a series of measures to improve the efficiency of logistics internationalization, such as establishing logistics information network and strengthening total quality management of logistics. At present, the trend of logistics internationalization is limited to the United States, Japan and some developed countries in Europe.

The third stage-from the early 1990s to the present. At present, the concept and importance of international logistics have been generally accepted by governments and foreign trade departments. Trading partners are all over the world, which inevitably requires the internationalization of logistics, that is, the internationalization of logistics facilities, logistics technology, logistics services, cargo transportation, packaging and distribution processing. Countries all over the world have extensively explored the theory and practice of international logistics. People gradually realize that international logistics cooperation is the only way to promote the prosperity of the world economy, and logistics has no borders.
