Origin of Goubuli Steamed Bun

Goubuli steamed stuffed bun is a famous snack in Tianjin, which was founded in 1858 and is one of the time-honored brands in China. There are two folk sayings about the origin of Goubuli steamed stuffed bun:

1. In ancient times, there was a farmer in the suburbs of Tianjin. At the age of forty, he was happy to have a son. For the sake of peace, he took the nickname "Dog Son". When the dog grew up, he first worked as a waiter in a steamed food store in Tianjin, and later set up a steamed bun stall himself. Because business is too good, dogs can't talk. People say that "a dog sells steamed stuffed buns and ignores people", so people call him a dog who ignores steamed stuffed buns.

2. A 14-year-old boy nicknamed Goubuli learned to make steamed buns in Tianjin. The steamed buns he made were delicious and sold quickly. People used to call him by his nickname. Over time, they called his steamed buns "Goubuli".
