Is WISCO a state-owned enterprise or a central enterprise?

WISCO is a state-owned enterprise and a central enterprise. WISCO generally refers to WISCO Group Co., Ltd., which is an important state-owned backbone enterprise directly under the SASAC Central Committee and the State Council.

Introduction to WISCO:

Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Corporation is the first super-large steel joint venture built after the founding of New China. WISCO has a set of advanced steel production technologies and equipment, such as mining, coking, ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling and logistics, as well as supporting public and auxiliary facilities. After the joint reorganization of Egang, Liugang and Kungang, it has become a large enterprise group with a production scale of nearly 40 million tons, ranking fourth in the world steel industry.

WISCO has three main businesses, namely steel manufacturing, high-tech industry and international trade. Iron and steel products mainly include hot-rolled coil, hot-rolled section steel, hot-rolled heavy rail, medium plate, cold-rolled coil, galvanized plate, tinned plate, cold-rolled oriented and non-oriented silicon steel sheet, color-coated plate and high-speed wire rod.

Since 2005, under the guidance of Scientific Outlook on Development, WISCO has vigorously promoted the third venture, and made outstanding achievements in production, operation and reform and development: the southwest strategy has been solidly promoted, the production capacity of this department has doubled, the three major variety bases have basically taken shape, the independent innovation ability has been greatly improved, and the strategy of going global has made a breakthrough.
