Penglai City is the original county-level city under the jurisdiction of Yantai City, Shandong Province. It is located in the northeast of Shandong Province, north of Yantai City, and borders the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea to the north. The Penglai Pavilion, built in the sixth year of Jiayou's reign (1061), and the Penglai Water City, built in the second year of Qingli's reign (1042), are both national key cultural relics protection units. There are also tourist attractions such as Qi Jiguang’s hometown, Sanxian Mountain, Ocean Polar World, Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Aishan National Forest Park, and Xiyuan Zoo. In December 2017, it was selected as one of the top 100 industrial counties (cities) in China.
