This year's "May Day" holiday has been extended to five days, which is in the golden season of tourism. Recently, the Ministry of Public Security has studied the traffic safety situation during the May Day holiday in recent years and issued an early warning to the society.

According to research, during the "May Day" holiday this year, the national road traffic safety faces the following five types of safety risks: First, the demand for tourism is growing rapidly, and the risk of self-driving travel is prominent. With the continuous improvement of epidemic prevention and control in China, major tourist attractions have "reset" to welcome guests, and outings and farmhouses have continued to pick up. People travel by car in short and medium distances, traffic congestion intensifies, and traffic safety risks increase obviously. Second, the traffic volume on the expressway has surged, and the risk of truck accidents is outstanding. The resumption of work and production brought about the centralized release of transportation capacity, and the traffic volume of expressways increased by 35% year-on-year. In particular, all vehicles, including trucks, are allowed to pass free of charge on the expressway, and the safety hazards such as "multi-pull running" and fatigue driving of trucks are prominent. When trucks, buses and cars are mixed on the expressway, the risk of accidents will double. Third, the rebound pressure of provincial highway accidents in the three countries is great, and key illegal acts are prominent. Recently, there have been many accidents of group deaths and group injuries on national and provincial expressways, which have exposed that drunk driving, speeding, illegal overtaking, overcrowded vans, overloaded trucks, illegal manned vehicles and other illegal accidents are prominent and risky. During the "May Day" period, accidents such as drunk driving, speeding, overcrowding, collision and falling caused by not avoiding according to regulations will become more prominent. Fourth, rainfall has increased in some areas, and the impact of bad weather is outstanding. According to the forecast of the meteorological department, after April 30, precipitation in Jiangnan and other places increased. From April 30th to May 2nd and around May 5th, there were two precipitation processes, local rainstorm, heavy rainstorm and even heavy rainstorm, which brought adverse effects on holiday traffic and safety. Fifth, holiday accidents are frequent, and the risk of major accidents is outstanding. Judging from the accidents during the May Day holiday in recent three years, the daily average number of traffic accidents and deaths were 50.6% and 14.5% higher than the annual average, among which the daily average number of deaths with more than three people was 46.6% higher than the annual average, and accidents involving minibuses accounted for 40% of the deaths.

The Ministry of Public Security reminds drivers and holiday travelers to pay attention to the traffic information, business situation and weather forecast of scenic spots released by public security, transportation, tourism, meteorology and other departments before going out, do a good job in vehicle inspection and maintenance in advance, and arrange the travel time and route reasonably. When traveling, you should obey the law, drive in a civilized way, fasten your seat belt, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, don't drive fatigue, put an end to drunk driving and driving without a license, and don't take overcrowded cars, low-speed trucks, tricycles or tractors. When driving at night and in rainy days, and when passing through roads in mountainous areas and scenic spots, attention should be paid to reducing the speed and increasing the distance between vehicles, and it is not too hard. When vehicles slow down or queue up, they should pass in an orderly manner, and must not interrupt, rush into the lane or occupy the emergency lane.
