Binzhou is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, known as the coast of Bohai Sea and the state of Yellow River. It is located in the north of Shandong Province, the hinterland of the Yellow River Delta, the southwest coast of Bohai Bay, the sea in the north, Dongying City in the east, Zibo City in the south, Jinan City in the southwest, Dezhou City in the west and Haixing County and Huanghua City in Hebei Province across the Zhang Weixin River in the northwest. Binzhou city is located in Jiyang depression in the southeast of Cenozoic subsidence area in North China. The underlying bedrock of Cenozoic is Paleozoic sedimentary strata and pre-Sinian metamorphic rock series, which are divided into several small fault blocks by several NE-trending faults, and there is basically no Mesozoic strata, and the Cenozoic strata directly cover the Paleozoic strata. The fault block depression formed a Cenozoic depression basin and deposited a whole set of Cenozoic strata with great thickness. The strata are interbedded deposits of marine facies, lacustrine facies and alluvial facies, and contain a lot of organic matter, which is beneficial to oil generation.
