Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, formerly known as Shanxi Provincial Health and Epidemic Prevention Station, was founded in 1953. In June, 20001year, the provincial organization approved the establishment of a comprehensive disease prevention and control institution on the basis of the original Shanxi Provincial Health and Epidemic Prevention Station, Shanxi Provincial Institute of Occupational Disease Prevention and Control and Shanxi Provincial Institute of Tuberculosis Prevention and Control through adjustment and optimization.

Shanxi Preventive Medicine Association and Shanxi Medical University Public Health Training Base are located here. On February 25th, 20021year, Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention was awarded the title of "National Advanced Collective of Food Safety Work" by the Food Safety Committee of the State Council.
