If the boss doesn't even know the name of your grass-roots employee, you don't have to send it. If not, you can send messages in simple language. I didn't hear any flattery from my boss. If your words are too flashy, the boss will take it for granted that you are flattering him. Just like "X: Congratulations on the birth of your son, XXXXXXX (add something), * * * Congratulations", plain and simple language is actually more touching.
