Does it cost money to receive text messages?

SMS is divided into uplink and downlink.

Uplink SMS is texting. Unless you send a text message to 1862 to check the phone bill (all domestic mobile companies do not guarantee this), you must charge.

There are two kinds of receiving short messages.

Peer-to-peer, that is, from another mobile phone to your mobile phone, you are the receiver, so there is no charge for such short messages.

The other is the so-called downlink in the line.

Downlink can be divided into two types, namely charged SMS and non-charged SMS.

No charge. For example, if you subscribe to the weather forecast of an SP company, it costs 3 yuan per month. According to the latest documents of the mobile company, all the package charges are converted to monthly charges. That is to say, 3 yuan will be deducted from you every month, but there is no charge for each message. For another example, messages sent to you by 12580, 1862 or other public service messages are free.

Another way to deduct fees is, for example, if you send a short message to SP to check the score of an exam (called on-demand), you will first charge a communication fee of 1 gross. Then SP sends you a short message, and the short message you receive is charged (according to the agreement between Mobile and SP, the rate is different).
