[Don't let mobile phone scam messages blind your eyes] It's like being blinded by the five rings.
A mobile phone message can cheat hundreds of thousands of yuan. It is no exaggeration to say that "SMS fraud" has seriously affected our lives. Recently, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Information Industry and the China Banking Regulatory Commission jointly launched a nationwide special campaign to control illegal short messages on mobile phones, and severely cracked down on criminal activities such as using short messages to commit fraud and disseminate illegal information.
First, the contents and forms of fraud are diverse.
1. Criminals usually learn about someone's mobile phone, home phone or his friend's phone through some means, and then make harassing calls to the other party's mobile phone (that is, call repeatedly and don't talk after being connected), so the other party's general reaction is to turn it off. Or criminals call and lie: "Hello, the mobile company will now test your mobile phone line, please temporarily turn off your mobile phone for 3 hours." At this time, the fraudster will immediately call the other party's family or friends and lie that he has been detained for gambling or had a car accident. He needs to remit the money to the designated account at once. Because the relatives or friends of the other party can't get in touch with the parties, they often believe the lies of criminals and remit the money.
2. Because many banks add "SMS confirmation" function after credit card consumption, it also gives fraudsters an opportunity. "Dear customers, hello! You just spent RMB ××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××× If there is any mistake, please call back to inquire. " If the user who receives this kind of short message really calls back because "I obviously didn't spend money", the other party will often use "your account is likely to be stolen by others" as an excuse to defraud the user's personal bank information or trick the user into transferring money to a "safe account".
3. The criminals used the greed of some people to design a "grand prize trap". The text message reads: "I am XXX, a notary of the Notary Office of XX Province. Congratulations on your number winning in the XX lucky draw (shopping). The prize is a car, worth 88,000 yuan. Please bring your ID card and 750 yuan handling fee to XX to receive the prize. " Or "Please remit personal income tax on handling fees to XX account". If you really believe in winning the prize and remit the money, you will fall into the trap of a liar.
Many users have also encountered such a situation: a strange number suddenly appeared on the mobile phone, but the phone was hung up as soon as it was connected. When you call back, a recording of "Hello, this is XX Company" sounded on the other end of the phone, which subsequently caused high telephone charges to users. Or leave a message saying: "Your friend13 ××××××× year××× day×× day×× month× day× month× day× month× day× month× day× month× day× month× day× month× month× day× month× month× day× month × month× day× month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month × month ×
5. "XX, I am on a business trip now, and my mobile phone is running out of money. Please help me buy a prepaid card, and then tell me the card number and password by SMS. " This kind of short message often indicates that the mobile phone is stolen, and the current holder uses the stolen mobile phone to send short messages to the contacts in the mobile phone address book to defraud the other party's money.
6. "I am an engineer of XXX company, and I want to check your mobile phone now. Please press #90 or # 90. "If you press the instruction button, the SIM card number is likely to be cheated, and fraudsters can use this card to make phone calls unscrupulously.
7. When you receive a missed call starting with 094 1 or 095 1, never call back. Call back and pay the phone bill, 500 yuan. This is a fraud that uses 094 1, 095 1 value-added pay phones to defraud telephone bills.
At present, in order to escape the attack of the police, criminals use the national telephone, Internet, postal postcards and other communication tools, and use mobile phone text messages to commit fraud, and the means are constantly being refurbished.
8. Pretending to be a tax official for fraud. Criminals first bought a local mobile phone number, called some business leaders and said that tax clearance was under way now and found that your company had a tax refund for a certain year. In most cases, company leaders can't remember what taxes they paid, so they ask the accountant to contact them. Criminals will tell each other at this time. For the convenience of the people, just tell the bank card number and "guide" the accounting operation. As a result, not only did the company not get the "tax refund", but the money in the original card was also transferred to the other party's account. At present, in Beijing, there has been a phenomenon of lying about the refund of automobile purchase tax and cheating money and color.
9. Use postal postcards to impersonate law enforcement agencies for fraud. After the fraudster obtains the information of the driver of the motor vehicle, the fake traffic police department sends a postcard to inform the owner of a certain violation, requesting that the fine be deposited into a designated account, which is actually the fraudster's private account.
In the face of so many illegal and criminal activities using mobile phone short messages, how should we guard against them?
Here, the police remind people that after receiving such short messages, they should see through the fraud tricks of fraudsters and never contact each other to avoid being fooled. At the same time, the police also introduced several practical screening methods. Once you receive a similar message in the future, if you can't judge the authenticity, you may wish to try the following methods:
First, each mobile phone number has its fixed segment number, which can distinguish whether the mobile phone is a foreign mobile phone or a local mobile phone. Ordinary citizens can search online through search websites and enter their mobile phone numbers as required. Some just need to enter the top 7 digits of the mobile phone, and the online will show where the mobile phone is, and then compare the content of the short message, for example, the content of the short message shows that a company in Shanghai is engaged in activities and so on. But the mobile phone is out of town, so this message is obviously deceptive.
Secondly, because some criminals already know that the mobile phone numbers left in the past may be exposed, in order to increase their deception, some people have set up 8-digit fixed telephones at present. In fact, the telephone number has never been registered in the telephone office, but criminals have registered and opened a virtual phone by themselves through the Internet. In other words, you thought you were calling Beijing, but in fact, the criminals may be in Fujian. Therefore, if a citizen friend finds a message sent by a stranger in a short message on his mobile phone and keeps a fixed phone number, it will attract attention. Don't believe that you have a fixed telephone number. In fact, this is also a trap.
Third, SMS fraud always requires the victim to deposit money in an account designated by his bank. Therefore, after receiving this kind of short message, readers may wish to ask the bank staff before remittance and ask them to help check the ownership of the account. If the SMS says it is a company in Guangzhou, but the account number is from other places, the SMS fraud will be broken.
At present, the People's Bank of China has issued a notice to all commercial banks and relevant units, requiring commercial banks that have opened ATM inter-bank transfer business to limit the daily transfer amount and times, uniformly use the customer service phone of commercial banks to provide short message services to cardholders, and cooperate with public security organs to do a good job in investigation.
According to the characteristics of SMS crime, the Ministry of Public Security and other departments put forward "five don 'ts". First, don't believe false information, but use your mind to identify it. When you can't tell whether the message is true or false, you should call the bank at the first time. Note: don't call the number left in the text message first! Second, don't be tempted by illegal text messages because you are greedy for small profits. Third, don't make strange phone calls in short messages to avoid being deceived. Calling a stranger will step into a "serial trap". Many criminals play different roles in partnership, and sometimes even one person plays multiple roles. They use the call forwarding function to connect multiple phones to one phone, and through repeated calls, they try to grasp the victim's personal data and funds as much as possible and wait for opportunities to commit fraud. Fourth, don't disclose personal information, especially name, ID number and bank card information. Fifth, don't transfer money to a strange account.
Although SMS fraud is escalating, I believe that after you understand the above fraud methods and preventive measures, you will know how to deal with strange SMS and will not be easily fooled. (Reporter Fang Yi)
