How do college students view the epidemic situation?
This week, we will continue to pay attention to the situation of "stopping classes, teaching and learning" during the COVID-19 epidemic. As a highly educated youth group, college students have strong sensitivity and insight into social problems. In the face of public health emergencies such as the COVID-19 epidemic, their living and learning conditions, their worries and expectations about study and employment, and their cognitive attitude towards social governance are all worthy of attention. From February to March, 2020, Lian Si, a professor from university of international business and economics, organized a survey on the influence of COVID-19 epidemic on college students, and collected12,897 college students' samples nationwide through electronic questionnaires, which made an in-depth analysis of college students' living and learning conditions and ideological trends during the epidemic, and put forward suggestions on how to carry out student work in colleges and universities in the next step.
"At present, studying at home is the best contribution to yourself, your family and society", "Beware of emotional viruses and learn to adjust yourself", "Don't stop and settle down yourself" and "Pay attention to undue fear in the epidemic; During the epidemic, a series of Q&A posts on "What can young college students do in the face of the epidemic" gathered many young college students' frequent interactions: from live broadcast to sharing self-disciplined and efficient learning methods to showing their experiences as community volunteers.
Contemporary college students are a young generation who grew up in the stage of rapid economic and social development and high material and cultural living standards in China, and lack of experience reserves to deal with major public health emergencies. Therefore, in the face of COVID-19 epidemic, a public health event that endangers the safety of the whole world and all mankind, the ideological attitude and social cognition displayed by college students have important guiding significance and reference value for us to analyze and study the values of contemporary highly educated youth groups in crisis situations.
1 college students' cognition of public health emergencies in the new period
During the epidemic in COVID-19, college students not only had the mental state of ordinary people, such as panic and anxiety, but also reduced interpersonal communication. However, due to their active thinking and skillful use of network tools in adolescence, their behavioral characteristics are also significantly different from those of ordinary social groups. The survey found that the ideological status of college students during the epidemic showed the following characteristics.
Rational optimism in peace. At the beginning of the outbreak, college students will inevitably feel fear and panic, but with the deepening of the "epidemic", they gradually realize that the virus is not as terrible as imagined. What is really terrible is their excessive fear of the virus. To fight the virus, we should not only rely on powerful prevention and control measures and medical technology, but also need a positive and sunny attitude and optimistic spirit.
According to the survey, when asked "What is the thing that spends the most time during the epidemic", the first three options are: paying attention to epidemic information accounts for 63.5%, learning professional knowledge accounts for 45.3%, and doing housework, cooking and manual work accounts for 4 1.5%. In addition, entertainment and leisure activities also account for a certain proportion: watching movies, TV series and short videos account for 32.5%, playing computer and mobile games account for 28.4%, doing physical exercise accounts for 20.4%, listening to music accounts for 14. 1%, reading online novels accounts for 9.3%, reading famous books accounts for 7.8% and so on. Most students can choose housework according to their hobbies, and their lives are rich and colorful. The overall performance of college students' psychological state, from initial nervousness and panic to anxiety and loss, gradually tends to be rational and sober. With the deepening of the understanding of the epidemic situation, the mentality of college students is becoming more and more rational and peaceful.
Mapping the depth of thinking in attention. As representatives of educated youth, college students are highly concerned about the epidemic situation in COVID-19 and related issues. According to the survey, 85.3% of the students chose the development situation of the epidemic, and 7 1.5% chose the health and safety of medical staff, ranking the top two. During the epidemic, students saw angels in white's selfless spirit of sacrifice and noble medical ethics. This professional feeling of self-sacrifice inspires contemporary college students to think about the meaning of life.
The sudden outbreak of the epidemic prompted the students in the "ivory tower" to go beyond the individual level and then think about some social problems independently and make their own judgments. The survey shows that 36.4% of college students are concerned about the progress of prevention and control in key epidemic areas, 35.3% are concerned about the openness and transparency of epidemic prevention and control information, 24.7% are concerned about the rational use and supervision of donated materials, 1 1. 1% are concerned about the accountability of dereliction of duty officials, and1%are concerned about the effectiveness of specific prevention and control measures in various places.
Main epidemic prevention and control measures adopted by colleges and universities
The level difference is reflected in the degree of recognition. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the central government made a decision, and all localities responded in succession, which expanded the situation of epidemic prevention and control in the country to a positive situation, and significantly improved the influence and prestige of the party and the government among young people. According to the survey, 95.7% of college students think that the China government has controlled the epidemic to the maximum extent, 93.5% think that the epidemic prevention and control policy has effectively safeguarded the interests of the broad masses of the people, 92.2% of college students express their support and support for various measures to control the epidemic, 9 1.4% of college students think that the epidemic prevention and control reflects the institutional advantage of concentrating on major events in China, and 84.3% of college students think that the epidemic has improved the government's ruling ability. The above data show that the central government's decision-making arrangements have been highly recognized and sincerely supported by the majority of students.
But at the same time, college students' attitudes towards the government show class differences, and their recognition of the central government's epidemic prevention work is higher than that of local governments. The survey shows that 92.5% of college students agree that the overall deployment of central epidemic prevention and control is timely and effective, and 87.4% agree that the epidemic prevention measures implemented by relevant local departments are in place. College students living in different areas have obvious differences in the level of prevention and control work. The recognition rate of non-Hubei students is 9 1.2%, while the recognition rate of Hubei students is low, which is 8 1.5%.
Feel the vigorous power in the disaster. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the rally of patriotic feelings was loud, and the forces from all corners of the country gathered like a flood. According to the survey, when asked what was the most touching/impressive thing in the epidemic, 88.9% people chose "experts and medical staff give their lives to forget themselves in the front line", 83.4% people chose "to concentrate national resources to help key epidemic areas such as Hubei", and 72. 1% college students chose "to quickly build centralized treatment places such as Raytheon Mountain and Vulcan Mountain". In addition, 38.7% chose to "block Wuhan and resolutely prevent the epidemic from spreading to other areas", and 32. 1% chose "courier brother, grassroots staff dedicated".
In the survey, when many students talked about their feelings during the epidemic, "tears", "selflessness" and "mutual help" were all frequently mentioned words. They are moved by videos and news all the time, such as Expectations for Vulcan Mountain, Raytheon Mountain and Zhong Nanshan, Happy Dance Steps of Fangcang Hospital, Cheers of People's Soldiers Going to the Front, Crying of Losing Their Relatives, The warmth of Nurses Holding their Daughters from a Distance, The Life and Death Choice of Doctors and party member Volunteering to the Front. Some college students said, "Seeking pleasure in adversity is an indelible cultural factor in the spiritual world of China people. With the suffering of the nation, the rise and fall of the family, and the success or failure of the individual, we always carry forward in the most difficult time and find a way out. " It is precisely because of these touching scenes and stories that the emotional state of college students fluctuated during the epidemic, but they always maintained the overall stability of "three less and three more", that is, less complaints, less fears and less venting; I was moved, supported and expected.

Show a sense of responsibility in a crisis. The COVID-19 epidemic has made contemporary college students see clearly the value choice and mission of the big and the small, made young people more aware of the connotation of the relationship between individuals and collectives, and tested college students' moral consciousness. They start with small things and things around them. The survey shows that college students are highly cooperative in emergency management, 98.6% of them avoid going out to gather, and 98.3% of them wash their hands frequently, wear masks and take good precautions. Because of their high level of knowledge, college students are more likely to accept and master scientific prevention methods in cognition and have firm confidence in defeating viruses with science.
While ensuring their own safety, college students also strive to cooperate with relevant departments to prevent and control the epidemic. Although many students can't go to the front line to fight the epidemic, they stay safely at the village entrance and community, do their duty of prevention and control in the crowds and traffic of high-speed railway station and the expressway, and participate in ensuring that the epidemic prevention products factory will resume work. More students consciously take online courses, prepare for entrance exams and job hunting, and contribute "youth strength" to win the epidemic prevention war. According to the survey, 95.5% of college students expressed their willingness to contribute to epidemic prevention and control. In terms of specific participation in the epidemic situation, 7 1.3% of college students actively promoted the knowledge of protection to their relatives and friends, 35.8% of college students cooperated with the community to do a good job in prevention and control, and 20.3% of college students reported online rumors/actively refuted rumors. Some students in the survey said: "Under the epidemic, we have become more clear about our responsibilities in the times. We are small in the torrent of the times, but we also have the ability to shape greatness. There are doctors, nurses, policemen and grassroots cadres, and there must be our college students. "

Poor self-discipline affects the learning effect. Because the epidemic in COVID-19 lasted for a long time, students had to study at home, especially to test their self-discipline and self-study ability. The survey shows that 15.3% students study less than 1 hour, 4 1. 1% students study less than 5 hours, and 28.4% students study less than 5 hours. From the main learning methods, 45.6% people use the online course resource platform for learning; Off-line self-study accounts for 3 1.2%, 15. 1% is online guidance by teachers, and 8. 1% is online collective discussion.
At the beginning of the epidemic, many students were unfamiliar with online learning methods and slowly entered the state. However, with the enrichment of course content and the elimination of technical obstacles, students gradually adapt to online learning methods. However, some students still report that it is difficult to discuss problems online. Every time we discuss around the theme, there are always some topics that will lead to endless extension and unconsciously turn the discussion into a chat. There is also a gap between asking questions and teachers' answers, so it is easy to get lost and forget the main intention of asking questions. It can be seen that both teachers and students need to constantly run in and explore online learning methods.
Home isolation leads to life disorder. The survey shows that when asked about the negative impact of epidemic situation on life, college students choose epidemic situation as the reason for the chaotic pace of life (55. 1%), followed by social interaction (4 1.3%). In addition, college students' family income, body, spirit, sleep and diet are also affected to some extent. In the survey, some students reported that they were too nervous to study during the day. At night, they feel that they are wasting their time, feel guilty, and are in a trance and anxious every day. In addition, due to the differences in concepts, work and rest, and behaviors, young people and their parents are prone to conflicts, which leads to tension in family relations.

In addition, during the period of home isolation, college students have a wide range of channels to obtain epidemic information, including TV broadcasting, online media, social software and so on. However, different from the past, the Internet is the main channel for college students to obtain information. In this epidemic, TV broadcasting has become the "first scene" for college students to obtain information. The survey shows that 72.2% of college students get epidemic information mainly from TV broadcasting, which accounts for the highest proportion of all information sources. At the same time, online platforms and social software have also become an important way for college students to obtain epidemic information.
