The origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, the story about Qu Yuan,

In 278 BC, Qin Jun invaded Kyoto, Chu. Qu Yuan was heartbroken to see his motherland being invaded, but he was reluctant to give up his motherland. On May 5th, after he wrote his last poem "Huai Sha", he plunged into the Miluo River and wrote a magnificent patriotic movement with his own life.

After Qu Yuan threw himself into the river, the local people immediately rowed to rescue him and went all the way to Dongting Lake, but Qu Yuan's body was never seen. It was raining at that time, and the boats on the lake gathered at the pavilion on the shore.

When people learned that it was to salvage the sage Dr. Qu, they went out in the rain and rushed into the vast Dongting Lake. In order to mourn, people rowed on rivers, and later it gradually developed into a dragon boat race.

Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional festival in China. Dragon Boat Festival is held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. Various folk activities, such as offering sacrifices, entertainment and health care, all originate from the seasonal custom of expelling toxin and evil spirits, including offering sacrifices to Qu Yuan, commemorating Wu Zixu, inserting mugwort leaves, hanging calamus, drinking realgar wine, eating zongzi and racing dragon boats to eliminate the five poisons.

In May 2006, the State Council listed it in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list; In September 2009, UNESCO formally considered and approved the inclusion of China Dragon Boat Festival in the world intangible cultural heritage.
