What is a bold font?

Letters (characters), because bold strokes are uniform, can only be a decorative font, not calligraphy. Bold fonts absorb the advantages of strict structure of Song typeface in font frame. With the popularization of computers and the Internet at the end of the century, the value of bold characters has been further reflected. Its concise stroke characteristics are consistent with the characteristics of screen display media, so it has become the most promising font in various screen media today. However, so far, there is little research on this word, and there is no accurate answer about its origin (time, place and style). Neglect of these problems makes the design and application of bold characters become rootless and passive water without historical reference, which seriously restricts the development of bold characters. The purpose of this study is to make a systematic and detailed historical analysis of the origin of bold characters in China, and to provide basic theoretical reference for the design and application of bold characters in the contemporary situation.
