[Weapon Theory] Russian "Future Warrior" System

Weapons say Russian "future warrior" system?

China News May 27th Recently, according to the Russian Tass news agency, Russia has started to test its second-generation "Future Warrior" system in the Syrian war. Let's learn what the "super soldier" of the Russian army is.

Future-oriented personal suit

In order to further improve the comprehensive combat capability and survivability of infantry in the future battlefield, at the beginning of 2 1 century, the world's military powers have invested in the research of "future soldiers" plan.

In-depth study of the systematic characteristics of "future soldiers" is mainly to provide infantry with three core combat forces: "superior firepower, superior visibility and superior protection" through modern and digital means. Among them, the improvement of firepower has always been the goal pursued by human beings in the era of hot weapons; Superior communication means emphasize observation and communication ability, especially the arrival of the network era, which greatly improves the communication ability of infantry and becomes the top priority that all countries must study and use; Superior protection is the key to improve the survivability of soldiers, which is of great benefit to maintaining the morale of troops and inheriting combat experience.

It is also out of the pursuit of "three advantages" that Russia followed the upsurge of developing "future soldiers" in the western world after the Afghan war and put forward its own development plan for individual combat equipment. Before the "Warrior" system was developed, the Russians had developed the "Balmy Cha" combat system, which was used to improve the survival rate of the soldiers in the combat team who performed the task alone.

The development of "fragrance check" system originated from 1999. It is mainly developed for motorized infantry, airborne troops and special forces, including five basic systems of killing, protection, control, life support and energy. Its main features are good versatility, strong versatility and high integration. As for the attack weapon, Balmy Cha used Abagan AN-94 automatic rifle, AK rifle or Pechneg machine gun, which was more suitable for motorized troops. At the same time, reconnaissance equipment such as navigation, compass, night vision goggles, communication equipment, bulletproof vests, bulletproof helmets, general tactical vests, backpacks, sleeping bags, raincoats, blankets, pillows, cloaks, food, heaters, medical supplies and engineering equipment are readily available, with a total equipment weight of about 50 kg.

On this basis, the Russian army began to develop the second-generation individual combat system. In August of 20 1 1, the new generation of "warrior" system made its debut at the 10th Moscow International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, and then it was fully installed in the army after the army test in March of 20 15. At the same time, Russia has launched the research and development of the "Future Warrior" combat system named "Warrior -2", which is expected to make a stunning appearance from 2025 to 2030.

How was Iron Man tempered?

Russia abandoned "Balmy Check" because of its superior protective performance, but low technology content and 20% higher weight than western products, so it was at a disadvantage in the confrontation with American "Land Warrior" and other systems. Since then, Russia has vigorously developed the "Warrior" individual combat system, which can be described as one of the largest modernization plans of the Russian army, and it is bound to turn the Russian army into an "iron man" in the future battlefield.

The "Warrior" combat system consists of five systems: protection, control, life support, weapons and energy support, and more than one subsystem, 10, which is divided into winter and summer. At present, a general complex system consists of at least 59 components. Among them, the protection system composed of more than 20 parts, such as body armor, bulletproof helmet, protective glasses, protective clothing and hearing protection parts, is the key core of the Warrior. The Russian army claims that the protective parts of the "Warrior" system can cover about 90% of the soldiers' bodies, and they are extremely breathable and can be worn continuously for 48 hours. The standard "Warrior" protection system consists of five-level protective clothing and body armor, weighing about 10 kg. It has an embedded quick release system, which is not only convenient to use and wear, but also light in weight. Warrior's existing bulletproof vest can protect the chest, back and sides from bullets, and protect the groin and shoulders from debris. At the same time, the researchers also made a brand-new multi-layer helmet for soldiers, which is mainly composed of composite material-fabric material-composite material, with a total weight of about 1kg, and can withstand the impact of 9 mm pistol bullets fired 5 meters away. It is recognized as the lightest and strongest helmet used by soldiers all over the world at present.

In terms of weapon system, the standard configuration of "Warrior" combat system should be AK- 12 assault rifle, and other series of rifles may also be used. AK- 12 rifle is equipped with night vision sight, infrared thermal imaging sight, laser target indicator, telescopic stock, muzzle brake and other components. Like the US Army's SCAR assault rifle, it is divided into 5.45 mm light and 7.62 mm heavy. In addition, Russian soldiers can also be equipped with light weapons such as light and improved PKM machine guns and Orsis T-5000 sniper rifles. It is not only suitable for ordinary infantry, but also can meet the operational needs of different groups of people, such as rocket launchers, machine gunners, drivers and scouts, and can match the required kit parts according to different operational tasks.

In addition, the Russian army also distributed the Sagittarius reconnaissance, command and communication system for the Warrior system, which is actually equivalent to a small portable computer. Sagittarius was equipped with Russian troops as early as 2007. The improved Sagittarius system can meet the communication needs of company level within the range of 1.5km, and keep radio contact at the same time. The system is designed with an open structure, which can be connected with various reconnaissance, control and combat systems, including drones, allowing soldiers to share information with each other and communicate with commanders, and transmit voice, image and video data in real time. In fact, a small battlefield military IOT network of the Russian army has been initially established, which can enable commanders to deploy and adjust the company's combat operations more effectively.

It may be too early to applaud.

According to the current plan of the Russian army, about 70 thousand sets of "Warrior" combat systems can be installed every year. However, due to the fine-tuning of some light weapons of the Russian "future warrior suit", it is not known when it will be fully put into use in the final version. After all, the Warrior Combat System has too many competitors at present. The United States has land warriors and future warriors 2025, Germany has future soldiers, France has "Integrated Infantry with Equipment and Communication (FELIN)", Britain has "Integrated Soldier Technology for the Future", and even Spain, Switzerland, South Korea and Japan have tested "Future Soldiers". What's more, there are still quite a few problems to be solved in the "Warrior" system, and it is still too early to applaud.

As far as weapons and equipment are concerned, it is hard to say whether it is AK- 12 of Kalashnikov Company or A-545 of Jagalov Arsenal. The repeated entanglement in the choice of assault rifles is also an important reason why the "Warrior" is still in the experimental state. Even though the improvement of AK- 12 assault rifle is remarkable, its GP-30 Grenade launcher is still too traditional, and its three large-scale improvements are somewhat confusing. Although the "Warrior" system claims to have modern communication capabilities, at present, Russia's night vision equipment and communication components mainly rely on imports, which obviously brings many hidden concerns to the Russian military's information construction. What's more, Sagittarius terminal has a short communication distance, and its high-speed data communication and self-organizing network capabilities are worrying, which is still far behind similar systems in western countries.

The bigger problem of the "Warrior" combat system may still be weight. At present, the basic version of the "Warrior" combat system has reached the level of 20 kilograms, which is already an "unbearable weight" that cannot be omitted on the battlefield. Although the Russian army has developed a wearable exoskeleton mechanical combat suit, which can bear about 95% of the cargo load and will help infantry fly at the speed of 16 km/h when carrying heavy objects, there is still a big gap from putting it into use. What's more, the "Warrior" system can't be separated from night vision goggles, individual computer monitors, headphones and other communication equipment installed on the helmet, which will increase the neck burden of the human body. At the same time, although the protective soft armor protects the important parts such as the chest and abdomen, the more comprehensive the protection, the greater the weight, which will easily make the soldiers' load-bearing ability and physical fitness reach the limit.

In fact, what is the real information and digital infantry? Even the United States is "crossing the river by feeling the stones". Although the individual protective equipment of the US Army's 20 19 plan has been greatly innovated from head to toe, this whole set of equipment has also tried its best to reduce the weight, but it will not be light in the end.

How stable the performance of these heavy-duty information equipment is, how to give full play to the technical advantages of information-based infantry network operations after a soldier is equipped with a complete information-based combat system, and how to prevent information-based equipment from leaking on the battlefield are all important issues that must be solved by the Russian army and all countries that study the combat equipment of "future soldiers". From this point of view, Russia's "warrior" combat system still has a long way to go if it wants to truly create a "warrior" in the future battlefield.
