Not necessary, the transfer of household registration is voluntary.

Chapter II of the Measures for the Administration of Collective Accounts in Peking University? Article 4 Students' collective household registration:

1. For students who were admitted to our school that year and were not registered in Beijing, the household registration transfer is voluntary. Freshmen can keep their household registration or transfer. Freshmen who have not moved to registered permanent residence at the time of enrollment shall be deemed to have given up their household registration automatically and shall not move into their household registration after enrollment;

2. Students who are newly enrolled and can be transferred to the household registration according to the regulations shall go through the registered permanent residence migration formalities with the admission notice, ID card, permanent residence registration card (in Beijing) and household registration certificate (outside Beijing). After the start of school, the permanent population registration card or household registration card collects and verifies the enrollment information of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, applies to Haidian Public Security Bureau for approval, and enters the household after being approved by Haidian Public Security Bureau.

Freshmen are required to bring their household registration certificate (outside Beijing) or the permanent population registration card issued by the local police station (inside Beijing).

"Household Registration Certificate" project requirements:

(1) The Household Registration Certificate held by freshmen must be printed and stamped with the official seal of the local police station (the official seal of the local police station in the lower right corner of the household registration certificate).

(2) The name, gender, date of birth, native place, birthplace, ID number, height, blood type, registered permanent residence nature, marital status and other relevant information of the household registration certificate must be complete, and the printed handwriting must be clear. All handwritten changes in the household registration certificate must be stamped with the special seal for the household registration of the police station.

(3) The name and ID number of the Household Registration Certificate should be consistent with my household registration book, ID card and admission notice before entering school, otherwise I will not move in.

(4) The place of birth and native place must be accurate to the city (county), such as X city in XX province or X county in XX province or X district in XX city.

(5) The moving address should be "No.5 Summer Palace Road, Haidian District, Beijing" or "Peking University, Haidian District, Beijing".

3. On the day when freshmen report for duty, each department will receive the household registration certificate or the permanent resident registration card. Freshmen please write down their department, student number, height, blood type and telephone number in black ink in the upper right corner of the household registration book or permanent resident registration card.

4. Freshmen can only settle down after being approved by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Haidian Public Security Bureau, which is generally completed before the winter vacation in the year of enrollment. Prior to this, students who need to apply for ID cards, passports, visas, banks and other businesses should complete it before issuing the "Household Registration Certificate" in their hometown or undergraduate colleges.
