Y code is a standard ID number used by public security organs all over the country, which consists of 18 digits and letters. Among them, the first six digits represent the administrative division code of the holder's location, the last eight digits represent the date of birth and the sequence code, the letter X represents the male sex, and the letter Y represents the female sex. The design of this size is often dominated by women, and the Y code represents a size of about 32 yards as a size option between S (small) and M (medium). Of course, the standards of different brands may be slightly different, but in general, Y size is a small and thin size for women's wear.

In addition, Y code has another meaning that is widely used in Chinese mainland, and that is "corn". In some northern areas, corn, a common food crop, is regarded as an indispensable part of people's daily life, so people will call it Y code for short. It is understood that this way of addressing originated from dialects, also known as "Yan code" and "Yao code". In areas outside the mainland, this title is generally not used, but the word "corn" is directly used to represent corn.
