This kind of bird is called the common nighthawk (also known as "the bird with the machine gun"). They are summer migratory birds, who migrate to Chongqing to breed in summer and use songs to find their spouses in noisy environment. Nighthawks make a short, powerful and rhythmic sound of "biubiubiu" at night or early in the morning, which is their courtship or territorial declaration. After the end of the breeding season, nighthawks usually leave the breeding ground and start a long-distance migration and return to the wintering ground. Not every nighthawk can successfully migrate to its destination, so the "noise" they make is more like a hymn of life.
