Where did the imperial doctor in Cangzhou come from?

The image of Xilaile's imperial doctor is based on the deeds of Liu, one of the "four outstanding figures in Jin and Yuan Dynasties". Liu was born in Hejian (now Hejian, Hebei Province) in the Jin Dynasty. Because he lived in Hejian (now Hejian County, Hebei Province) for many years, he was called "Mr. Hejian" or "Liu Hejian".

Liu has rich medical experience, profound knowledge and extensive medical practice. He studied Neijing, Suwen and Luck, and his insights were brilliant, which created the "Cold School".

The "Fangfeng Tongsheng Powder" initiated by him is still a good prescription for treating exterior and interior diseases and surgical viruses. At that time, they called it imperial doctor and became one of the top ten famous doctors in ancient China. In order to commemorate Liu's outstanding contribution to the people, in the hundreds of years after his death, later generations built temples, carved monuments and eulogized him.

To this day, there is still his tomb between Liu Zhong Shoucun and Liu Hou Shoucun in Xijiuji Township, Hejian County. Liuye Temple was destroyed by Japanese imperialism and renovated after liberation. A grand temple fair will be held every year on the fifteenth day of the first month to commemorate him, which shows that his influence is very far-reaching.
