How long does it usually take to hear a civil dispute?

Opening time of civil litigation:

1. If the defendant's whereabouts are unknown, it needs to be announced, and a court session can be arranged after 60 days;

2. If summary procedure is applied, the court will arrange a hearing 15 days after the parties receive the responding materials;

3. If the ordinary procedure is applied, the court session needs to be arranged after 30 days.

Article 92 of the Civil Procedure Law of People's Republic of China (PRC)

If the addressee's whereabouts are unknown, or it cannot be served by other means specified in this section, it shall be served by public announcement. Sixty days after the announcement, it shall be deemed to have been delivered. When the announcement is served, the reasons and process shall be recorded in the file.

Article 136

When trying a civil case, the people's court shall notify the parties and other participants in the proceedings three days before the hearing. If the hearing is held in public, the names of the parties, the cause of action, the time and place of the hearing shall be announced.
