Legal consequences of publishing false information

Legal analysis: if the information is found to be illegal or fraudulent, the publishing platform and publisher need to bear legal responsibility. Operators who fail to fulfill their risk prevention and warning obligations and take corresponding measures will bear part of the legal liability for compensation.

Legal basis: Article 1 197 of the Civil Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), the network service provider knows or should know that the network users use their network services to infringe upon the civil rights and interests of others, and fails to take necessary measures, and shall bear joint and several liabilities with the network users.
