What do you mean by the time displayed in the short message?

The short message shows the time when the short message was successfully sent, not the time when the short message was successfully received, and nothing else.

My example can prove this point:

I once sent a message wishing my good friend a happy birthday, but I didn't expect my friend to receive my blessing one day later. Really, I am a mobile user and my friend is a Unicom user.
