Where is Laoniuwan?

Laoniuwan is located at the junction of Laoniuwan Town, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, China and Laoniuwan Town, Qingshuihe County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with the Yellow River as the boundary.

Laoniuwan is located in the south of Pianguan County in Shanxi Province, the north of Qingshuihe County in Inner Mongolia and the west of Zhungeer Banner in Ordos Plateau. It is a place where chickens crow in three cities. Laoniuwan is narrow in the west and wide in the east, and its tail is perfect, just like a gourd.

Laoniuwan is famous for its castle, which was built in Chenghua three years in the Ming Dynasty (1467). The Yellow River enters Shanxi from Laoniuwan, and the Great Wall meets here. The Grand Canyon of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Mongolia starts from here, where the vicissitudes of China Loess Plateau landform stand out and the endless magnificent landscape reappears.

Laoniuwan is located at 13km north of Wanjiazhai Water Control Project Dam, 270km away from Datong City of Shuozhou City, Dongsheng District of Erdos City 166km, Hohhot City 120km and Baotou City 170km, covering an area of 800 mu. National Highway 209 passes through the territory and runs through Shanxi and Mongolia. Surrounded by the economic golden triangle of northern Shanxi and Inner Mongolia, it is the only place for many tourist routes, with superior resources and environment.
