Introduction to Shiyan

Shiyan City is located in Hanshui Valley in Qinba Mountain area of China, in the northwest of Hubei Province, in the middle and upper reaches of Hanjiang River, with distinct seasons and pleasant climate. Bordering Hubei, Henan, Shaanxi and Chongqing, the unique geographical location makes Shiyan known as "the southern ship is north of the horse, the throat of Sichuan and Shaanxi is the thoroughfare of four provinces". It has jurisdiction over two municipal government agencies in three districts, four counties and one city, with a total area of 24,000 square kilometers and a population of 3.5 million. Shiyan City is the only regional central city in the adjacent areas of Hubei, Henan, Shaanxi and Chongqing, and the core city of the eco-cultural tourism circle in western Hubei. Shiyan is the world-famous Taoist holy land Wudang Mountain, Danjiangkou Reservoir, the source of water diversion for the Middle Route Project of South-to-North Water Transfer, and the headquarters of the first and third Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company in China. 1 Shiyan has a long history, with Xiangyang in the east, Shennongjia in the south, Daba Mountain in the west and ancient Qinling Mountain in the north. The 3000-mile-long Hanjiang River runs through the whole territory from west to east. Today's urban area was named Shiyan in the Qing Dynasty, because people built dams on the Baier River and irrigated 10 rivers. Shiyan City (county-level city) 1969 was approved by the State Council, and 1973 was upgraded to a provincial city. 1994 10, the original Shiyan City and Yunyang District merged to form a new Shiyan City (prefecture-level city).
