When was the Anti-Drug Day established?

Anti-drug Day was established on 1987. 1On June 26th, 1987, the United Nations held a ministerial conference on drug abuse and illegal trafficking in Vienna, which was attended by more than 3,000 representatives from 138 countries. The conference put forward the slogan of "Love life, don't take drugs", and the participants unanimously agreed to designate June 26th as the International Anti-drug Day every year, calling on people all over the world to make joint efforts to solve the drug problem.

Purpose of establishment:

The worldwide spread of drugs poses a serious threat to the international people. According to United Nations statistics, the global drug trade volume is as high as more than 500 billion US dollars every year, which is the second largest trade in the world after the arms trade. In 1980s, drug abuse caused 654.38 million deaths worldwide. Drugs not only seriously damage human health, endanger national quality, encourage violent crimes, but also devour huge social wealth. For developing countries, the losses caused by drugs and the huge amount of money needed to eradicate drugs are a heavy burden.
