What's the difference between boys and dudes who are common in American dramas?

There's not much difference. They're all American slang.

Guys can mean "ladies and gentlemen; Friends ",more neutral, commonly used.

But dudes are relatively casual, "buddy, buddy", used to play with friends or friends who can joke.
