The production process of Huanggang wickerwork is basically the same, which is roughly divided into seven steps: material selection, coloring, soaking, weaving, fumigation, sun drying and painting, all of which are made by hand.
(1) material selection. Select corn husks, remove the outermost old husks, and require the same color and white color. The color of the straw should be natural, and the thickness should be determined according to the needs. The thatch is best when it is old. Wicker is selected, and Futian wicker is the best. At this time, the wicker is mature, easy to peel, white in color, about 1-5 mm in diameter and 60 cm in length.
(2) coloring. According to the design requirements, the required color is evenly coated on the surface of the material and dried.
(3) soaking. Put colored materials into water. Just wet the corn husk, or it will turn yellow in a little longer. The coarse wicker should be soaked for 20 minutes, and the thin wicker should be soaked for 10 minutes. The purpose of soaking is to make it soft and easy to bend, increase strength and facilitate weaving.
(4) weaving. According to certain shapes and specifications. All tools are: iron sign, fruit scissors, ruler, etc.
(5) fumigation. The finished product should be scrubbed with washing powder. Its purpose: one is cleaning, and the other is increasing humidity. Then, put the finished product into the fumigation room, ignite it with sulfur for 2 hours in the container, and seal the doors and windows of the fumigation room during fumigation.
(6) cool and dry. After fumigation, the finished product should be cooled, fumigated and cooled in time to prevent the product from being moldy and deformed.
